The first Steps First and foremost come up with a and idea for what kind of character you want to play. Do you want to play a shifty goblin alchemist? A charismatic Dwarven Paladin. A crafty Lamia sorceress. If you can come up with it there is probably a way to create it with this system. If you are not sure what you want to create try following the steps below.
1. Pick a
Race. All your standard fantasy races are represented here including your more monstrous ones. In this world no intelligent creatures are inherently evil so feel free to play an orc, troll, lizardfolk, etc
2. Pick your
Abilities. There are no classes in this game, but rather you pick abilities to shape what your character is capable of. Want to be a shadowy spell caster? Train in dark magic and pick abilities that enhance your spell casting. Want to be a valiant knight? Train in shields and heavy armor and give yourself high defensive stats. Figure out what abilities you want to have to create the kind of character you want to play.
3. Pick your
Stats. Now that you have a basic character concept use your left over CP to fill out your stats. Remember you will earn more character points to spend on your character as you complete missions so you can drop an ability or to you picked up to better fill out your stats if needed.
4. Buy
Action Powers. If you are playing physical fighter and want to do more than just smack things with your weapon these will be important. Action powers tend to apply crippling effects to enemies or boost your own defenses so give them a look through. Action powers cost 100 gold per point of AP you have to spend to activate them.
5. Buy
Spells. If you are going to be a spell caster this will be your bread and butter. Each school of magic has its own feel so find which ones appeal to you. Remember, you must spend character points to train in a school of magic before you can cast spells from it. You can train in multiple schools of magic or just specialize in one. Spells cost 100 gold per point of MP it costs to cast them.
6. Buy
Equipment. There are several types of equipment that can be used to enhance your character and these are defined in the gaming system thread. Just remember you have to spend character points to train in a specific type of weapon and armor if you want to be able to use them.
