She would tell you it was a land wrought with loss, wielding a dark resonance that frightened her; and surely, there was a resonance here. The Redwoods reeked of a death that would not decay and was avoided by many for reasons known and intuited. Yet the truth was, at least for Soul, it was her body that rejected the territory; not her mind. It was her body that remembered what her mind could not... or would not. Her long, nimble steps were guided by the trauma that lived within them, while all the rest of her worked to keep her thoughts pure.

So, when the world seemed to rock, if only metaphorically, it was her mind that became ever curious… leading her vessel astray.

The long travel across the land brought her here, to the withering forest of Kells, where beneath one of its many crooked trees she had fallen asleep. Her stomach, although full of sustenance from the night before, had felt like a void the deeper she trekked… but her trekking would persist, for she had resolved to see it for herself. The Veil, so many had come to call it, where strange things were happening. It seemed oddly fitting to have it all happen here, in The Redwoods, where no one really wanted to go. As if the world were drawing attention to the parts of itself that were not so pretty, reminding its children of something…

Eyes that were usually bright with fervor hung heavy lidded as the sun crept over the horizon and slumber fell away. She was not on any strict schedule, at least not one that she was aware of, so before she would rise to travel further she would lounge and laze long into the afternoon…

Fortunately, and to some degree unfortunately, she had not run into a single soul since her arrival… for whatever reason, her imagination had conjured up far more nefarious activity than what she was greeted with. On the surface, this was a pity. Below it, hidden within her heart, there was a sense of tentative relief and quelled terror.
