Additional information: The vehicles are all based on the same chassis, but vary wildly in configuration and weight, possessing the same engines and wheelbase, with the exception of the wheeled MA9 series of vehicles. The vehicles can utilize a variety of applique and bolt on armor pieces, designed to increase or decrease the relative strength of the armor, to allow it to be decreased. The vehicle utilizes high strength titanium armor, with approximately 1000-1200 MPA of strength, which is not only substantially stronger than the lower grade 500 MPA steel RHA commonly used in many armored vehicles, but 70% lighter. The vehicle offers substantially better protection as a result, providing all around protection against 14.5mm rounds, RPG's, and 25mm rounds across the frontal arc in nearly all configurations, or greater with improved armor. This is achieved in part by the titanium, but also by the perforated and spaced armor, with the perforated outer layer of armor possessing small holes in it which allow the armor to be virtually thicker and still sufficient to stop rifle rounds, and the slat armor allowing for two layers of armor to be used. SLAT armor works by spacing out the armor, pre-detonating warheads of shaped charge and squash explosives away from the main armor of the vehicle, thus weakening them, and spreading out their explosive force. It also deforms and fragments incoming hardened armor piercing rounds, increasing the vehicle's effectiveness against AP rounds, while it detonates incendiary armor piercing rounds like used in the 14.5mm, mitigating their effect and preventing the materials damage to the bulk of the armor. Behind this slat armor is the bulk of the vehicle's armor, a full piece of titanium with a spall liner, and a ceramic outer coating designed to reduce penetration in to the titanium, and acting like chobham armor to an extent. The outer layer of armor is only semi perforated, with sufficient thickness in between the holes to stop most shrapnel and explosive blast force, giving the appearance of a solid sheet of armor, with around 66% of the armor being empty space, thus increasing it's thickness to three times that of ordinary armor (but having gaps that allow very small projectiles to pass). Combined with the carbon fiber backing, the total weight of the armor is approximately 30 or more pounds per square foot, for an approximately 600-800 square foot vehicle. The vehicle also has a monicque double V-hull design, designed to deflect explosions from IED's and landmines, and is raised far above the ground to diffuse the space between the vehicle and the explosive. It is raised even higher in the wheeled variant, which is more prone to roll-overs, although the ultimate vehicle height of every vehicle is around the same, save for the reconnaissance vehicle.
The vehicle is designed to utilize air-bursting munitions, and their primary weapons are gyroscopically stabilized, allowing it to shoot more accurately on the move. When combined with a thermal vision scope, it possesses an automatic tracking system, allowing it to automatically track or aim at targets, increasing the first strike probability of the weapon. When combined with the anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, it provides overall performance against a broad range of enemy vehicles and performs particularly well against earlier soviet vehicles. The 45mm CTA cannon is designed specifically to penetrate the side and top armors of T-54/55 tanks, and some T-72 tanks, allowing it to defeat light battle tanks, as well as most APC's. It can penetrate at least 150mm of RHA, or approximately 5.9 inches of armor, but it's performance is worse against ceramic, spaced, or other types of high strength armor. The round is sufficient to penetrate the outer armor of most heavy tanks, damaging their outer armor, weakening them against primary tank rounds, or necessitating costly repairs to the more expensive, often times fragile armor below. Ceramic armor or high explosive reactive armor only possesses a few uses and will be easily destroyed with repeated impacts, making it susceptible to heavier rounds. The 70mm CTA round can penetrate the same vehicles, but has approximately 305mm (12 inches) of armor penetration giving it better after armor effects and superior armor penetration capabilities. While falling short of the ability to defeat a main battle tank, it can easily pierce the side and rear armors of a T-72 and some T-90 vehicles, making it decent for anti-vehicle purposes. These rounds also have substantial anti-aircraft abilities. The 20mm hispano round is much stronger than the .50 caliber machine gun it replaces, capable of penetrating armor the .50 cal cannot, such as light APC's, as well as defeating low flying aircraft. Many of these weapon choices were designed with dual purpose to defeat aircraft and vehicles, as well as serve as more powerful "arms-race" technologies designed to defeat existing military equipment.
The MA9 and MA11 Reconnaissance vehicles are designed to be light enough to be deployed from most aircraft, which substantially increases it's price, although also increases it's protection levels slightly over the other vehicles. The vehicle has a number of features designed to allow it to be separated for long times from logistic supply lines in the field, including greater ammunition capacity, large amounts food and water stowage, and internal water filtration system, a hybrid electric engine which is more fuel efficient, large fuel tanks, and both mine clearing and engineer capabilities on the vehicle. Virtually every variant of the vehicles come with retractable engineering features, including a trenching device and mine rollers, which can be deployed at will. The vehicle allows for the quick formation of defense fortifications, which serves as a force multiplier when soldiers are on the ground. The incredibly powerful hybrid electric engine allows for extremely fast acceleration, but also allows more weight to be added to the vehicle after it's landed, such as gathering supplies from the environment (additional sand-bag armor) or collecting air dropped supplies, deployed by other vehicles or methods. The V-Shaped hull as well as the spaced armor have large amounts of empty space in them, allowing for both food and water to be stored, as well as a water filtration system which allows water to be gathered from the environment. The water is filtered twice, first when being put in to the vehicle, and secondly when being emptied from the faucets by the soldiers. Up to three months of water and a year of food can be stored, but given the weight limitations practically this is typically a month of water and three months of food ,with soldiers being supplied by regular resupplies. A broad array of sensory equipment, from radar to thermal vision is used on the vehicle, allowing for an easier time spotting enemies, and syncs up with soldier's electronic systems.
