 It was late night, near closing hours at the Museum, and Copper Crystal was waiting for the doors to close so they could start installing a new exhibit. 30 minutes. "Soon.."

 Sun had fallen and after somewhat of a short nap, did they ever truly sleep?, Harvest Moon was up and flying through the fading light. Two red eyes peered down on the rooftops of the city below, watching and scanning to see the top of the museum where they were headed. Copper Crystal probably wouldn't appreciate such a late night drop in on their part, but Moon couldn't really stay awake very well during the glaring daylight, especially since they'd just come from Summer.
Even Whippoorwill was worn out beside them as the little Owlgriff flew, stretching his wings and chirping every so often to inform his friend of the indignity of sleeping somewhere so warm. Given that both of them were of Winter's Alignment it made digging in the warmer climes much more of a challenge, though at least for Moon they'd grown up originally in Summer.
"Well if he's closed we'll just have to come back tomorrow, sorta stick around the area." the little bat responded to one of Whippoorwill's more fierce chirps. As luck would have it though, when their eyes lit on the museum all the lights were still on and it only took a moment's dip of the wing to land before the doors, barely able to contain their enthusiasm. With one push they hopped in and peered about for Crystal, not wanting to go yelling his name in such a quiet place.

Hattaki im surprised it didn't also tell me you posted. usually i get double notices xD When the front door opened Copper held in a sigh and looked up. oh! He wasn't expecting to see Harvest since it was warming up in to Spring. "Heya!" With a smile, he came around to greet them. "How's it been?!" He chuckled. "You have great timing."

A giant grin ran across the bat pony's face when Copper appeared, coming out from behind the counter to come over in their direction. In fact that same grin began to grow mischievous at his words and the closer proximity until it was full on devious with the thought of what the other pony's reaction might be when they pulled what they were carrying out of their pack.
"Oh it's been fantastic, in fact you'll never believe what we found when we were out digging in Summer a few days back. Whippoorwill's still mad at me for going back for more after the first one, but I couldn't let them just sit there." Harvest Moon was beaming, even if it was a little on the devious side, and with a flourish they pulled two large and shimmering opals out of the packs slung over their back.
At the statement of his anger, the little Owlgriff on the floor turned glowing eyes up to both the ponies and fluffed himself up in indignation, but peered even harder at the two opals in his best friend's hooves. Moon stuck their tongue out at him playfully and grinned with a fanged smile back over at Copper again. "Thought you might like them personally, since they came from an area with a lot of history as well."

"Owlgriffs are really something." he chuckled. "Must've been hot in Summer tho, poor guy."This is when Harvest pulled out the opals for Copper to see. "Oh wow! They're beautiful!" Of course, he instantly thought of his daughter. "Please, Tell me about them." He locked the front door real quick since it was closing time. The installation could wait for his friend. "We can sit in the waiting area right there?"
Copper was indicating some plush chairs and couches out in the room meant for waiting guests.

"They're the best kind of 'something' though. I can't imagine wandering around without this guy." Moon said with a cheeky grin, "I grew up down in Summer, or at least my parents moved to the edge of it after I kept getting sick. This was deep though, so I don't blame him for being upset with me. Though he could be nicer about it." Whippoorwill simply fluffed up even bigger and then strode smoothly into the museum, trotting away from them both to go and find a dark corner for a nap.
Laughter followed the poor thing as Moon followed after Copper and plopped down on one of the indicated chairs, a sigh escaping from them. "I would say don't encourage him but honestly he's right. These two beauties definitely belong in a museum for sure, it's why I couldn't just leave them where they were. Certainly worth the trip back down into Summer. Both of these came from a cave not far from the mountain down there."
With one hoof they held out one of the large opals for Copper to look at. "They certainly seemed like something that should be on display, with all the brilliant lightning like colors in them." Moon peered into the one in their other hoof, tilting it and twisting it so that the colors danced and seemed to move all on their own. One seemed more like it was raining, a brilliant blue sheen with droplets of brilliant colors all through, the one they'd handed over was more like lightning itself. "What'dya think Copper? Would you want them?"
Abeno Seimei 13 years later. XD Sorry about that. I swear I didn't forget, but trip and all that.

Copper studied the stones for a little bit. Looking carefully at how the light worked its way thru. "These are definitely worth showing to the head honcho. However, I would like to offer you a sum to add them to my personal collection? Opals and Quartz have become quite special to me."He placed the stones on the counter between them. " I can give you 5 bushels for both."
