IchibanCon is an anime convention in North Carolina that takes place on the weekend of New Years. This year (2017) It will take place Dec.29th-Jan 1st. Technically the majority of the con is in 2016 this time, but we'll just call it 2017 haha. I'm really super exited!!!
It's in Concord, NC. Even if you don't live there, it's not a long drive from bordering states. Heck, for the past 2 years I've been going, I've been living in Georgia, and got there no problem.
It's not a huge con, so it's not really crowded, which is awesome! The arcade is also pretty great, tons of rhythm games... as well as classic arcade games! They've got something for everybody!
In general, the people there are pretty chill. Never had an issue with harassment or rude behavior at this con personally. I mean, there was this one dude last year who was kind of hitting on me but he had no creepy intentions lol. Being a slightly smaller con, there's less room for creeps!
Like most cons, there is a rave! But unlike most cons, it's pretty much all ages. So don't be sad if you're under 18 or 16 and still wanna party! (Just don't bring your small child, lol... this is still a rave!) Despite that, it's pretty pumped every year. No bags allowed, though, so don't try to sneak in anything! I went to an IchibanCon rave two years ago (hard to believe that 2015 will have been two years ago..) and it was super cool!
