Hello everyone! as you all know this month's theme is Magical Girls. No I know not everyone is a big fan of Magical Girls so I am here to tell you about sentai groups.
Sentai is a group of three or more costumed characters who typically fight evil, robots, or other organizations. Some examples are Power Rangers, Saint Seiya, Ronin Warriors, etc. Magical Girls even fall under this group!
Feel free to discuss different groups, ask questions to learn more about this genre, or even debate different aspects of show (as long as its friendly). Enjoy!

DID SOMEONE SAY SUPER SENTAI? Also, if I didn't have to go to bed soon, I'd SO start a marathon of either Gokaiger or Akibaranger...

Oh, there is a LOT of stuff out there, if one knows where to look. (starts humming the Gokaiger theme, because lol pirates)(also, see hint in bold)(not that I advocate people go out and do that, mind, I'm just saying) And even Zyuranger is out in America now on DVD, with Dairanger to follow, so hopefully every Super Sentai show will get an American release at some point in the future. biggrin

(sorry for double posting, but this thread needs moar love heart )
So, favorites?
I'd have to go with Gokaiger for all-time favorite, with Shinkenger (since it was my first, also dat Kamen Rider Decade crossover) and Akibaranger coming in close.
Although I'd like to get into more of the older stuff, and wish someone would hurry up and fansub all of Goranger.
As far as Power Rangers? Ehh, it's hit-and miss(mostly miss, particularly when you've seen the original works), but I really liked S.P.D. as a whole. Time Force was pretty good, too.

Don't worry about double posting. I was a huge fan of the original Power Rangers when I was a kid. I'm really interested in watching the show that was based on. Unfortunately I'm only familiar with sentai groups that have been reworked in the US.

Unfortunately I'm only familiar with sentai groups that have been reworked in the US. If you want to get more into Sentai, I'd suggest starting with Gokaiger, as it's more or less a crash course/history lesson in the previous 34 Super Sentai teams(at that point -- I think Nininger is the 39th Super Sentai, so next year will be another anniversary show). After that, you can go pretty much anywhere, as most series ARE fansubbed currently, except for Zyuranger and Dairanger, which are licensed. Also, you should at least watch the first season of Akibaranger. Because it's pretty hilarious.
