Matthew is an empathetic, kind compassionate loving caring individual, who doesn't want to kill or hurt anyone, not even the people he believes deserves it. He tries his best to avoid killing people, and will do almost anything to avoid killing innocent people. Despite this, he comes off as an incredibly dark and abrasive individual, who's reclusive and a bit crazy. Despite his overwhelming desire for justice, he could be considered a zealot for his cause, willing to go to extremes other heroes deem excessive or "over the line", as he will kill or commit other crimes to achieve his objectives. He likes to interject humor in to almost everything that he does, and makes references to things in cryptic metaphors, both as euphemisms and to imply knowledge of certain events. Despite his somewhat brutish and thuggish nature, he is a skilled military strategist, and relatively intelligent, preferring intelligent methods of action. He tries to find the simplest method of achieving any objective, or the "smartest", which often involves crude or violent methods. He is highly dedicated and somewhat stoic in this respect, with unyielding tenacity and will to achieve his objective. He is open minded and willing to work with others, especially when proven wrong, but he rarely sees eye to eye with others.

The armor is essentially a graphene film with electroactive polymers underneath that constrict when detecting an impact. While the graphene film can stop the penetration of the majority of small arms, even up to and including armor piercing 40mm grenades and .50 caliber rifle rounds, it does not absorb the energy of these rounds, or in essence prevent them from being transferred to the user.
