I love movies like this...
Even though I've never seen any of them because they're all too violent for my pathetic wimpy little soul...

I simply loved the film, and everyone I've spoken to about it has told me to read the book and The Watchmen.
Personally, I thought it was only like Phantom of the Opera because he was a psychopath in a mask with a love of music. If anything, it was more similar to 1984. Either way, it was a fantastic film. Fortunately I had no idea I was seeing it until the last minute, so had no chance to form any opinions - it certainly wouldn't disappoint any I had. After the Matrix 2 and 3 I would have expected it to be on an equal par of mediocrity, but this was on a level with the outstanding original The Matrix.
I think my favourite bits were possibly Evey walking through into the Shadow Chamber (I think it was called that) and realising her captivity was all devised by V (such drama!), V in his flowery apron, all parts starring Stephen Fry (my God), and definitely the march to Parliament by the masked people. I love all that patriotism (in as much as it is patriotism if you're blowing up buildings!), and the idea of people coming together to face adversity. Like Hugh Grant's speech about England being small, but still a great nation.
Makes you proud to be part of this world.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned or not, and I'm too lazy to go look for it, but what I thought was an interesting thing was how it connected to the Twelfth Night by Shakespeare.
In the Twelfth Night the thing that prevents people from opening up and being themselves is hiding behind masks they create: like V. V could also stand for Viola = the woman whom changed her gender in the play and hid from the man she loved. This could also relate to V loving Evee, and being hidden behind his mask and therefore not able to be with her.
I have other theorys on it, but they're more assumptions that I put together and they're not as blatant as the ones mentioned before.

The movie was entertaining, however, it had too much of a liberal influence.

Takahashi_Natsumi The movie was entertaining, however, it had too much of a liberal influence. What would you define as "a liberal influence" exactly?

There is also freedom-forever.com but you didn't hear that from me.
