I walked away from God. I lost a friend to suicide, and I was angry. I couldn't find closure. Then I found Wicca. I never actually got too deep in it. I was just researching it, seeing if it was for me, now matter what I did my heart would scream at me. I was making a mistake, but I pushed forward. I felt guilty, and lonely.

God is always willing to forgive. smile

Joel 2:12-13
"Yet even now," declares the LORD, "Return to Me with all your heart, And with fasting, weeping and mourning; And rend your heart and not your garments." Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.

Sure, this was directed at an apostate Israel, but there are some general principles in this that still applies.

I know he is willing to forgive, and I know he is willing to take me back. The problem is that I feel like I don't deserve it. When I was walking down that road, I did things that screamed at me to stop. I got scared and I did.

I know he is willing to forgive, and I know he is willing to take me back. The problem is that I feel like I don't deserve it. When I was walking down that road, I did things that screamed at me to stop. I got scared and I did.

If we deserved forgiveness, then it would not be an act of grace, a favor from God. We do not deserve it—that's the point. But as long as you reached the place of admitting it was wrong and came back to your Father, confessing to him, he welcomes you with open arms, no matter how far off you traveled. The point is that you have an attitude in your inner-being that doesn't want to do it again.

      • Luke 17:4 (NIV)

4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

      • Luke 15:11-24 (NIV)

11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

That you were even able to repent, means it wasn't too late for you, so rejoice.

      • Hebrews 6:4-6 (NIV)

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen[a] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

        Footnotes:

        a. Hebrews 6:6 Or age, 6 if they fall

So, walk in the light (compassionate, righteous, looking to meet a need in others, benefitting them with what you say and do), and develop your relationship with God (praising Him, praying, studying, witnessing your prayers get answered). Once you build firm roots in the faith, you won't be going anywhere. Those unanswered questions that led you to doubt and be in anger with God are what separated you. So, just ask, seek, search for answers in the scriptures, and you will find the answers. Learn to trust Him, his Will and his commands. He allows things to happen for a reason. God gives, God can take away, and we thank him for everything, because he works all things for our good in the long run.

      • Ephesians 5:20 (NIV)

20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As someone who didn't start out Christian, just know, that looking outside, to spirits that you can't guarantee care for your well-being, will never be the answer. Even so, God can use your stint in Wicca as a testimony to draw others out. You may be able to sympathize/empathize with a Wiccan in a way other Christians can't. Like Paul, a former Pharisee, who persecuted Christians; once converted, you find him debating against Pharisees in ways a Gentile can't. He knew the scriptures so well, on top of all the traditions that came along with being one, that he could speak to them on another level, not as an outsider but as a former insider.

You've been forgiven the moment you came out, recognized it was wrong and confessed it to him.

      • 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
