I've been trying to make my avatar look spiffy, but I don't know a lot of cool looking items. Is there any cool looking ones you guys have come across that you think are pretty nifty?

Mostly angelic things, some armor and starry stuff. I actually haven't even heard of that until now, I'll check it out

Hmm, I know of a few items. I'll come back later with names (much later > <). I won't be too much help because the items I know are all older... And not everyone is into the older items now. Plus, they can be bulky. One example is the Holy Gauntlets item. It's angelic, armor and sort of starry. But terribly bulky.
Ah, I didn't want to say too much just in case you already knew about tektek. That's the site that people use when they create "dream avatars." It's also a great way to find specific types of items... by color, by type (shirt, pants, hat), by price... Gaia's releasing too many items for the site to keep up with now, so it's missing a lot of the newest items. However, there should be plenty of angelic, armor and starry things to check out.
Also, check through the two pages of items in the marketplace under "checkmate." They either follow a cream/brown/orange color scheme or blue/black color scheme, but there are some good arm and leg mods there. I really like how you've put together your current avatar so far, so keep doing what you're doing. ^^
