Hello NSTG, I’m feeling artistically inspired, and am considering setting up a mini shop to sell my art. I was wondering if I would be allowed to set up shop within the guild itself first, as a way to ‘test’ out before I go out into the big wide scary open art forum.
Also, what kinds of art would be in demand? It seems as though avatar art is the most popular, which is great, as I really need more practice drawing people sweatdrop . Is there specific optimal sizes, like for forum signatures etc?
Also, where & how would I upload my art? Would I need to do it on a separate site, such as deviant art for example? If so, what is the best place?

What a lovely idea! Yes, you may set up your shop in our Mini Shops subforum. As for popular art, any avatar art is welcome here, especially "chibi" style or realistic styles. All sizes from tiny sprites to images so big they have to be linked seem to do well. If you want images that fit in signatures, keep them less than 500pixels wide / tall and less than 100KB (100,000 bytes) file size.
I like storing my images on photobucket because it's free and easy, but if you already have a deviant art account that's a very popular option, too. Gaia does not have an image server so yes, you'd have to find another place like that to store them.

ohh good luck on starting a shop~
I use photobucket to save my works there or even art that I received~ ^_^
also you have to put prices for your art :3
and samples.
Some people don't even enter without having any samples.
You can have a freebie thread and use those as your samples ^_^
and it'll be easy for you if you also have an order form at times ^_^
but some people are lazy to fill those out too.
