It's a shining grin full of hope...

I am imagining plentiful amounts of liquor and rare meat in a rather large setting, only befitting of the holiday's celebratory festivities.

... Or it could be a look of somber silence struggling with fear...

He has a bit of a soft spot for confectionry, so perhaps a turkey and stuffing casserole followed by an array of pies, cookies, tarts, and petite fors.
