Omg, I could not do that eek I LOVE the hot weather and all, But I also like knowing I can come home to a nice air conditioned house XD
I don't never remember having a power outage for that long =/ Maybe a couple hours, but thats all. My parents had a generator too, but we didn't use it that much. We might have used it once or twice. I don't really remember, to be honest.

My problem with not having electricity is A) the temperature and B) the fact that I'm one of the technoholics that has almost all their entertainment based around technology. Don't do this to yourselves. Buy books, buy magazines, buy games you can play on your own, have hobbies that don't require a working outlet. Seriously, your brain will thank you when you're staring at the walls.
We got hit by the same storm. We were one of the lucky families who got our power back quickly, a fact for which I am eternally grateful. I felt so bad for everyone who stayed wihout it!
Then we lost power again about a week later, but only for an hour. Unfortunately, the internet and cable were out for about five hours. This lead to me deciding to watch a movie after a while of just trying to get into a boring book and listening to the AC. I didn't know where the DVDs were, since my sister organized them somewhere. I decided to ask. Keep in mind, I'd just seen one of our box sets lying around on the floor upstairs before I went to ask.
Me: Hey, Giul, where have you been keeping th DVDs? Her: (looks up from watching Netflix on her phone) We don't own any. Me: (thinking) b***h WHERE IS MY COPY OF WALL-E!?!?
I eventually found it, though - she just didn't want me to 'mess up her system'. It was annoying but funny at the same time. Does she really think I'm stupid enough to fall for that?

Fancy_Robotic_Ninja I have gone without electricity for a few days once. I was with my grandparents, and they new exactly what to do...and they had a generator thing...so basically, we had electricity when we didn't have electricity. We just had to use it very sparingly... Yeah.. It gets expensive pretty quick too..but I guess it happens all the time, so we while out the flashlights and buckets.. And try to stay cool...
The only major problem that I see with having no electic would be having no ice... Or a way to refrigerate food..everything would be fine..

If I knew the power was going to be out for a week, I would have a party the second day and get rid of all of my food in my fridge XD They just live off of caned stuff and stove-toppable stuff. Or veggies. Most veggies keep for a few days without refrigeration. A lot can actually, it just lengthens the time. I would just use any dairy/egg products up soon...lol
