My family would save those little, light
brown cardboard rolls that are at the
center of toilet paper rolls. We also
saved egg cartons and lots of those
cardboard rolls that are at the center
of paper towel rolls, too.

My dad would always tell us that they
could be used as toys or craft supplies.
There would be at least 100-ish of
those rolls and cartons around the
house at any given time. Occasionally,
we would craft these little makeshift
maracas out of the rolls or use those
egg cartons as forts or treasure chests
for our Barbies. Even then they would
only be used for a day or so and then
they'd be forgotten. My dad insisted on
keeping them even when no one would
use them. This went on for about 7-9
years until one day he just had us toss
all the cardboard rolls and cartons out.

Has anyone in your family ever insisted
on keeping something that you thought
was useless? Or they saved things that
might've made sense, but the quantity
was just a bit ridiculous?
