Also Castor and Pollux are the twin stars, and Pollux was thought to be immortal while Castor was mortal. Makes sense why Pollux is the Avox in the book.

"Panem" means "bread" in Latin and is referencing the "Bread and Circuses" that brought about the downfall of Rome. As long as they were fed and entertained, the Roman people let the government do basically whatever they wanted. They were content to live in a rapidly failing empire under corrupt politicians.

Well, I just looked up Wiress and it only came up with Hunger Games things. So I'm guessing it's like Wire but by adding -ess it makes it female. Like lion, lion-ess. Her district is 3 which is Technology so Wire(ss) makes sense.
