(I'm part Sicilian so I have proof!)
The descriptions of Katniss in the book describe my mom's side of the family, who are Sicilian, even including the grey eyes! I was surprized when the actress did NOT look Sicilian AT ALL. I mean even my blond little sister looks more Sicilian than her!

By the way, sicily is the island under Italy. On the map it looks like Italy is a boot and Sicily is the rock below it.

When I read the books, the first description of Katniss was like listening to someone describe me. Besides the grey eyes (mine are deep brown) I have all of the same features: Dark brown/black hair, olive skin, slim figure, tall but not towering. I'm mostly German, some British, and Native American. Then, the movie came out and I was kinda disappointed. Her hair didn't seem dark enough and her skin was more tan than olive (it's hard for most people to tell the different skin tones, but I can easily).

She wasn't as slim as I expected, I mean come on, the girl is freaking hunting squirrels to live. Not saying Jennifer Lawrence is fat, but they could've picked a somewhat slimmer young lady.

And in some scenes, if you look closely at her eyes, they aren't very grey. Sometimes they almost look brown with some grey in them. And that was one of the main reasons they picked Lawrence, she has intense grey eyes, but only in certain light.

I congratulate her mental portrayment of Katniss, she did a great job showing off her strengths and weaknesses. But when it comes to the physicality, I give it an okay, not the best, but better than the other actresses they were considering.

I think they picked the perfect actor for Gale. He looked as I expected.
