well yes becouse art is something that u exspress ur self through and u can exspress ur self through music pluss u can get paid i mean think about all the artist out there

There are many different types of art. Music takes just as much time, training, patience, and pressure as other types of art like dance, sculpting, painting, etc.
I'm a musician, and I find music to be more of a performance art, as well as an aural tradition. Music was not always meant just to make people happy, it has been used since ancient times as means of communication.

I would consider it art, yes, because you express yourself through it and it's full of emotion :3

I agree with everything here; just because it's not a visual art doesn't mean that its not art. Anything that conveys emotion is art. biggrin

I can see what you mean but I'd have to say I still consider music an art form in itself, because you can often use music to convey emotions and allow an audience to relieve the emotions you want. Using lyrics, which is a form of poem, and sounds. Also think about music that plays in the background of your favorite film. Often they'll use music to make some seems more dramatic, or sad, sometimes lift up the mood and make things seem much better.... Music has long been incorporated in our everyday life to express emotions in countless ways, to the point were we hardly recongnize its presence.
That beeing said... there are also people out there who can't convey the emtions and express through music as well. Not to say that any of the people listed above can't do that, cause some of them I think do an excellent job in portraying expressions, if you listen to more than just there popular hits on there albums. But I do agree that some poeple out there can't express through music. Just like theres some artist out there who can't express themselves neither. Some people are just good at copying things exactly, from other drawings, or copying from real life using mathimatical calculations, to people who just think there artistic and are just really good bullshitters.... haha... they exist : ) But I think we should just ignore people we don't think got it, and put our attention on people who live and breath expression, and artistic flow if thats what were looking for : )
