My view comes from a bit of introspection, but it's not really complicated. I find catholics to be incredibly ritualistic, dry, dangerously dogmatic, and flawed in their doctrine.

I do not, however, consider them to be any less Christian than evangelical/protestant sects. Their customs are a bit more outlandish, and their hierarchy is something I oppose, but the protestant sects are not without their own parallel issues.

True Christians exist within both Catholic and Protestant circles. They do not, in my perception, compose the majority of those who claim so, but neither of the sectarian associations are what causes this. That's a much deeper, more personal problem with people themselves.

Doctrinally, I find myself quite a bit closer to evangelism, but that doesn't sway me from having opinionated differences with evangelists too.
