The speeds are bad, but the time billing over data billing is interesting. With the slower speeds though, the time over data works in their favor though. If they had faster speeds over all (excluding the 3hrs of FOMA), it would cost them more as those plans show no real limit on data, just how long you can download for.

Yes and no.

My carrier (verizon) last year went to tiered data plans. Prior to that smart phones had unlimited data for $29.99/month. I was also lucky last year to get my plan over to this exclusive deal that took $20 off a month on the data. So all in all my unlimited data is $9.99/month.

Anyways, since I had unlimited data before the new plans I am grandfathered into unlimited. So theoretically I can keep my unlimited data forever as long as:

- I don't leave verizon
- Downgrade to a basic phone

The $30/month thing I was talking about was adding a hotspot feature to my phone. Allowing me to connect WiFi devices to my phone and share my cellular signal. With verizon only their LTE phones can have unlimited data hotspot. Their 3G phones are all tiered with no unlimited option.

I want to know as well. So I guess I'm going to go do some deep searching.
Ah ok, I see what happened then for you, worth holding out then just to maintain the unlimited.

Canada went teired many years ago for all the internet, be it 3G type or land line, so few people have unlimited data up here anymore and most have it only on their house net accounts.

I worked with a guy that had unlimited through BELL but they kept trying to get him to change because they no longer offered that service as a contract. He refused each time, because they had a contract with him (with no end date) and they hated it. At one point someone with BELL changed his plan on him without permission, he was on the phone with them for over a week, when they refused to return it to what it was before he asked for the managers manager. At that point he told them if they did not fix it, he would take BELL to court for breach of contract, amazingly enough the "service they no longer can offer or give to people" returned! LOL

Of course they also added another feature here that most major companies do now, contract length limites, most are for 2 or 3 years, that way they can get out of plans that dont screw the customer and hurt the company by not giving them amazing sales with offering minimal service.

I'm wondering if they throttle the 3G speeds for Vita users. Since those speeds are no where near what 3G speeds should be. Even in normal use.

its possible and very likely, why I dont know, unless they are afraid that PSV users would go over board with data use.

It's an interesting idea. Older data plans used to be like that. Where you'd use your cellular mins. for data.

I think it's an interesting idea especially for something like the Vita. If only they'd bump up the speed.

Agreed, if they bumped the speeds, then the time limits, rather than data limits would definatly be a good thing for someone. Too bad we won`t see something like that here though.
