Yep. Lost all of his colour, got huge stress lines, and all of his fins got some shreddage. Moving from his bottom fins up (he's a double tail): bottom- shredded lower double with a huge hole in it. The top of his double is missing about a quarter of his fin, and his very top fin was shredded with bites taken off of the tip very noticeable. So can I get some help up in heuh?? Foods, meds, anything?? He's in a quarantine tank right now, with a low water level and plenty of food available.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ekHSShTf8kHere's a little video to show the extent of the damage Savage: last night I brung a water sample to the fish specially store that I bought them from (all fish with separate heaters and filters, clean tanks, no disease, lots of selection) and had the water tested. It tested perfect. pH was where it was supposed to be, same with ammonia, nitrates, etc. I watched her test and put the testing tubes right up against the chart. My tank is basically at the ideal for all testing params.

I'm still semi new to fish, so not sure what might cause this. But, one thing I noticed is his temp is in the safe zone BUT for hospital tanks, I've been told the temp should actually be a bit higher, around 80-82.
I've had good success with methyl blue, which you can buy under the name "revive" if your store carries it. That brought my betta back from near death twice. I suppose you could also try stresszyme though I have no experience or knowledge of that.
It MAY also be a good idea to keep the light off most of the time. I know when you add fish your suppose to keep the light off the first 24hrs so I'm assuming darkness helps reduce stress. Do you have any extra hides you could put in there to make him feel better?
I would get something like bloodworms, no idea if it's good, but, something high calorie and apetite stimulating. That's generally what we do with dogs and cats (minus the blood worms part) Although long term you want to make sure he has a good quality balanced diet. Couldn't see what type of food you got there.

Thanks CCR. I gotta keep the light on to keep the tank warm and regulated, otherwise I have to use the heating pad and risk fluctuating temperatures and the risk of the water being way too high. But I'll try and find a hide for him, I just really wanna keep an eye on his fins. I tried a pea treatment in an attempt to get something filling in him, and my hand was shaking bad (as usual). I accidentally touched the bottom part of the hole in his tail and it came off. Scene didn't even react 0:
Thanks for the bloodworms idea and the revive, I've been rolling the two back and forth in my head for a while. I want to try getting a sea monkeys kit and raising brine shrimp. Insta food!

I want to try getting a sea monkeys kit and raising brine shrimp. Insta food! great idea on raising food. And ya, the revive, from what I understand, is safe if the fish is healthy. And good is they are sick. I had much better results with that then with melafix. And what I like about melafix is that it makes the water blue, so it prevents idiots like me from overdosing the fish like I did with the melafix. Can you buy live food anywhere? I know freeze dried bloodworms are not as nutritious as live or frozen. Otherwise maybe a good pellet. Like new life spectrum. I think fish food is like dog food, if you see a lot of stuff that you can't imagine fish would normally eat, it's probably not a good food. Stick with something with lots of aquatic ingredients (krill, fish meal etc)

ANy idea what might be wrong with him? Bloating? Red patches, fungus, any scratching? Are his fins ripped because he was attacked (forgive me if I already know the answer to that.) Unless you know what's wrong, I would just do a salt treatment. Meds should always be a last resort UNLESS you know it's something that absolutely must be treated by a medication. So I would raise the temp like Gabby said and add some salt.

He's in a lot of pain, he hasn't returned any colour, refuses to eat, and his fins are horrid. He just lays in the bottom of the quarantine tank, and I can only tell he's alive cause he moves his fins when I shift the tank a little. I'm asking the fish store that I got him from if they can euthanise him for me, I'm way too afraid to do it. He was a great fish but he won't ever be able to go back with the other fish.
So now I have a 16 gallon bow front tank with 3 albino cories and 3 rummynosed tetras. I know they're heavy schooling fish so can I just get them both large schools and call it good? How many of each would be good?

Akiska I thought rummy's were fin nippers. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. I learned the hard way that your right. Scene has passed on to the tank in the sky. He never recovered, no matter what I tried to do for him. I really don't like fin nippers. They killed my Scene! (his full name was Charlie Scene. Look him up)

I had them with my betta for a while but the red eyeds did a number on him. Now those guys are evil.
