Although I am not sure how to shade the skin.
I do plan on fixing the shoulder, hand, and necklace chain.

I did something new with the hair, so I want to know what you's guys think of that.
I wanted to color it, but Im not sure Im confident enough in my coloring skills sweatdrop
I plan on adding a few flowers/designs in the background at some point too.
Any critique would be awesome though ^^

This may be the first year where I enter something and dont completley embarrass myself xd

Worked on fixing:
Chin, neck, hand, face by lips.
Did not work on the ear yet.

ok ^_^ if you want a serious critic heres mine : )

To start off with, the posing is very nice, but there's a few things that if you correct, it could make the 3/4 view much better. (I'll put the main words in bold so that its easier to remind yourself of the things you can correct later : )

1. For starters, his neck is a little to large : ), you might wanna try bringing in his neck a little. You drew a line on his neck actually, I think it might be a stand of hair, but if you bringing the neck there, and just a little on the other side of the neck (bring in the lines more inwards) You can already give his silhouette a better form : )

2. The second thing is his mouth. Now this one is a little tricky because of the angle of view you chose. But usually when we see someone in a 3/4 view, we often a little piece of skin/the other side of the face. In your case you drew the mouth a little to close to the side of the face, so now we can't really see the cheek. I found a drawing that has a similar 3/4 view as you. Ideally I would have liked to find you a real photo but the drawing is good enough to base an idea off of, I find : )

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/13-Jul-2009/130333-Randi3-KenTiessen.jpg

Check the mouth area. Notice how we see a little side of the cheek? I think if you let us see more of that it could make the face look a little more 3 dimensional, instead of flat.

3. The third thing, I would like to mention is his chin : ) He needs a bigger chin, right now we loose a part of his chin due to the size of his mouth, so to compensate for that, try making his chin a little longer, if you add another lip size to the chin size that exist already, you should get something more realistic : )

4. Another note I'd like to bring up is his ear size. The ear itself is beautifully drawn!!! I love the details you put into this ear!!! its gorgeous : D!!! but its a little to big D: *oh noeessss* Usually ears sit inbetween the eye browns and the bottom half of the nose. In your case it sits between the eyebrows but... its a little longer then end end of the nose. If you can shrink that down a little to fit in between thoughs two elements it would be great : )

5. Ok one last thing the hand : ) Hands are really tricky things to draw. But I found you did a really good job with this one : ) you even bothered to put in the figure nails and knuckle joints, which is awesome cause it shows your trying to understand better the 3 dimensional form. ; D brownie points for that haha. But because of the angle you chose, we should be seeing less of the pinky and ring figure. So ther further it goes away, the less we should see them, because of the angle it has. : )

Other than that Vanna, this is a really beautiful sketch, you did such a great job on it, and the image itself is very lovely already. With a few minor tweaks you can make it look phenomenal !!!! keep up the great work and I think some deigns in the background would be great as well : D good thinking!. If your feeling unsure about colouring it... why not scan your image in, print it and practice colouring on the printed versions? you know just to test it out : )!!??

Thanks, very great advice ^^

I think I will tweak the ear last simply because I too enjoy how it looks and I will be most reluctant to re-draw part of it xd

and That much be why my hand looks funny to me ^^'

Thank you very much and I will get to work fixing it ^^

yes : 3!!! the flowers are beautiful, your hard work is paying off !!!!! ^o^

the hand is much better to : D the little touch ups you did make your drawing even more impressive Vanna ^-^

If I may and TBH~The shoulders are not proportionate to the head and neck, and arm of the person. The lips of the mouth dont seem quite right either to the rest of the face.
I really didnt want to come across as a real witch about it all, But you did ask for honest opinions on it. But all in all it is pretty good.
Hugs,

Im glad that I didnt offend you. I do love to draw(freehand mostly with ink's) and paint alot of things myself in my spare time when I have some. Im a model, and when Im not doing that Im on the other side of the lens as a photographer.(weddings, sporting events, stuff like that). I do know that drawing a person is hardest out of all the things to be able to draw because of proportioning, shading, tints, muscle tone, and hair, is really the hardest(at least for me)to master properly. I wish you the best of luck at the fair. Take care.

Your a model? wow, never met one through the internet before, but sounds like you could also have yourself a nice artistic career too if you wanted ^^

The results:

So I went to the demolition derby at the fair, checked my art. It was apparently put in the jr. division, and I didnt win anything. Which I am fine with (but couple years ago in the jr. division I won second for a bad looking fullbody with no background) I'm fine with losing, but Im not fine with people winning when they didnt even follow the rules.
You need a frame (with a secure hanger), and if your name is on the drawing, its suppose to be covered up, there were winners that didnt follow those rules..

(That and one of the idiots that rode my bus last year did better than me... scream sorry, cant stand that person sweatdrop )

That's a bummer, sorry to hear it didn't go as well as you thought. And yea it is annoying that people don't follow the rules, but if people play favorites sometimes they get away with it. Or the rules are only there to have them. I think your picture turned out nicely after the work you put into it, I would still try again next year. :3

I will definatly be entering again next year. Although, I find it strange that.. must be two years ago I entered a fullbody with no background in the jr. show, and got second. This year I didnt get anything at all (which I am fine with) Works that way even in arenas actually, my old stuff seems to do better than my new sweatdrop
Thanks ^^
