When kids comment about a good song (All Star-Smash Mouth) and you're the only one who knows what it is.

I love Smash Mouth! xd Another one of my favorites from my younger days is Chumbawumba. heart I'm convinced that soon 90s music will be cool again! Everything goes in cycles, and it seems like 80s is the fad right now.

I had an experience at work (part-time childcare job) the other night that made me feel HORRIFICALLY old: A kid was playing games on his Nintendo DS, and as we were talking about video games, I mentioned that I have an old GameBoy. He asked, "What's a GameBoy?" gonk I feel OLD! Obscenely old! Horribly old! Gaaaaah! gonk

I run into that problem all the time too. I still regularly refer to my DS as a Gameboy (because it is one, even if it is a new model), and I get weird, confused looks. Hold onto that thing. It is now officially a collector's item, and it will be worth a ton of money some day. biggrin (Btw, didn't I give you that one? I can't remember.)

You know you're getting old when you realize that you can't physically do some things that you used to be able to do.

Yes, you did! And I've been playing Super Mario Brothers Deluxe with it lately. (There was some confusion when I gave Stinky back his video games after I broke up with him two years ago, and I only discovered a couple of MONTHS ago that I accidentally kept the Mario Brothers game that had belonged to him. I really thought I'd given them all back, but I found the cartridge in my player...and since he hadn't asked for it back in two years and giving it back now would require actually having contact with him xp crying , I decided that for my own mental health, I'd just keep the doggone thing. If I'd found it right after we split up, I would have given it back right away--I'm not the kind of girl who steals stuff from exes, or anyone else for that matter--but after almost two years, I really don't want to talk to him or see him ever again. Anyway...)

Oh, I had a strange experience yesterday involving my old high school...See, the school's "Booster" club was having a fundraiser (selling sack lunches consisting of a barbecue sandwich, chips, cookies, and a drink), and my mom ordered some lunches for herself, my dad, and me. So my dad and I went to the high school to pick them up, and since my dad can't walk very well, I went into the school cafeteria by myself to pick them up. And oh. my. GOSH! It felt so WEEEEEIRD being back there after eight years! It was unsettling...I simultaneously felt ANCIENT because I graduated eight years ago and the kids I used to teach Vacation Bible School to when *I* was in high school are now in middle school and high school themselves; but at the same time I felt really YOUNG, like I was transported back to my high school years, because...the more things change, the more they stay the same! The place still looks, sounds, and SMELLS like it did when I was in high school all those eons ago. It was like something out of the Twilight Zone! gonk I couldn't wait to get out of there and feel normal again!

... stare Well, normal for me, anyway! mrgreen

You know you're getting old when you're excited about the new vacuum cleaner you bought, and you honestly couldn't think of a better use for the money.
