So I was super stoked to be going back out to the bay area, but now I might not be able to. So I wanted to rent a car for the month out there to make it easier to get around and such, but since I have a debit card and not a credit card the car rental place has this stupid policy that you they need proof of income and residency. So yeah. I can get the proof of income with a bank statement, but I don't have proof of residency since I don't live in Concord. Yes the residency has to be in my name and close to the branch you want to rent from. Then I called up Hertz and they want to run a credit check on me if I use a debit card. What I don't understand is why all this? A debit card is the same exact thing as a credit card. Oh and yes I can get a pre-paid credit card, but I don't see the point in getting one just for this one transaction.

That's just messed. >.> They shouldn't be allowed to do that crap. Have you tried looking for a different rental place?
Apparently all the rental car companies are like that. It's just because I want to pay with a debit card and not a credit card which I really don't see what the heck is the difference between the 2. So I may end up just flying out there and trying to do a whole package deal and such.
Yeah if I had a credit card then I wouldn't have to do all this extra crap, but just cause I want to pay with a debit card they are making me jump through hoops. So stupid it is.
