Its my first time drawing a picture where two people are touching each other. Its partially for an art trade with a friend, and partially practice for me xd
I plan on practicing more humans intereacting with each other too.

I've restarted this drawing a few times already. Its my oc freaking out, and my friends oc hugging him and trying to comfort him, which is only making him freak out more (Has to do with something tragic in his past)

WILL PROBABLY TRY SOMETHING LIKE THIS INSTEAD

The first pic is one of my attempts, (Its just a rough sketch of the bodies, everything looks this bad when I first start.. sweatdrop ) So you can kind of get an idea for what the upper bodies are doing (Lower bodies are up for changing). The second is how I decided I think the heads should go and where their bodies need to be. I cannot draw the shoulders and neck though...

Redlines, advice, references, anything is appreciated!

If you want I can get reference pictures of our two oc's I would have to ask my friend permission first

I can draw you some red lines if you'd like : 3 first I'll need to know what gender each character is.... In my red line I may suggest another way of posing the legs, just to keep the characters weight in a more balanced forme, but its up to you weither you'd like to keep it like that or not : )

That. Would. Be. AWESOME
Sorry a little dramatic their xd

I've also got an attempt up if they were sitting. Dont care which I go with right now though sweatdrop

For the standing one, yes, I was having issues with the lower body, I couldnt get it to look right sweatdrop
The hugger is a girl, and the one being hugged is a boy ^^

Ok so.... I changed the position of the leg/feet to stabalize more the weight of your characters, in your sketch the posing of the legs were really full of mouvement, which is great but because your characters are standing up, you need to take in consideration the weight there putting on there legs. So a more stable straight line position would be needed to keep them standing upwards : ) Your torso positions were great by the way : ), I changed it a little with my red line version because I wanted to emphasise more the gender difference of the characters but you could have easoly kept it the way it was before and it would have been ok as well... : )

Now you mentioned having problems with drawing your characters shoulders... But I think your problem is more with your neck than with your shoulders... Your girls shoulders seem fine, and your boys shoulders seem a little low, but other than that the problem is more in the neck I think. So one pointer about necks is that when you tilt your head... like the position you gave your girl its not really the neck thats tilting forward, but more the head. Your neck CAN tilt forward...however most people tend to tilt there head forward then force there neck to tilt forward. Usually you'll see the neck in a tilted position when someone curves there back (like when you curle up in a ball) But generally for more relaxed poses like the one you have, the head will tilt forward slightly and your neck stays pretty much straight, with maybe a slight curve, but nothing as drastic as what you drew. It was fun to see you exagerating the forms of the necks... its just it was a little to much and made the characters neck seem out of balance

: )hope this helped

It helped a Lot! Thank you so much for the redlines, and advice ^^
Will get to work on this right away ^^

I have to double check with my friend on her character's height.
