I walked home, thoughts soon to be forgotten in my head, worn sneakers patting the ground back in fourth in an unnoticed rhythm, and my long, black hair swaying with the steady motion of my walking. The walk home from school was through a quiet, uphill market area with old, stone sidewalks to match the red brick buildings completed by the damp air and the cloudy sky to make a unique feeling I get from here.
It was slightly raining, and unlike the other few people walking around with umbrellas, just a coat hung over my shoulders over my short school clothes. Kind of an odd sight, me, with my short sleeve and skirt gray school uniform, unbuttoned, old fur coat over my shoulders, and worn sneakers like those of a homeless person, and my wavy, long, black hair inside my coat. But no one even stopped to look. Dull town it was, and nothing stood out because the atmosphere just made everything seem colorless and blank and normal somehow. The only thing exiting here was some old house in the woods that belongs to some hag, but she has been around there for years always looking about ninety years or older, so I bet she would of died by now. Even my mom said she heard rumors of her living there alive that old when she was little.
Many more brick buildings passed me as a certain shop caught my eye, like it usually dose. A shop that it's door was on the side of it, since next to an alley, but odd because all the other shops were stuck together, no alley. The shop name was just ''Ellie's'' that I just thought was odd since there was no window to look inside or a sign and the name doesn't even tell a bit what they sold here. Also, curiosity filled me every time I walked past it.
'Just a little browse wouldn't murder much time', I thought as my feet already turned to approach the door. 'I always take my time walking home, my mom wouldn't notice a little more time taking me to get home', as I made my official decision to explore the store quickly. My hand reached to the door knob as I approached the door but as I turned and pulled and pushed, it wouldn't open. 'Must be closed', but right at that thought, I heard a man's voice that startled me, "Hold up for a second, ma'am!" I turned around as quick as light travels to see a young man, about in early 20's, or possibly late teens, run towards me. "Sorry about that", he said apologetically, but happy and cheerful. I moved over as he approached the door. "My sister always gets here late to open this shop, but I hope I wasn't too late to steal your patience waiting for it to open", he spoke again and smiled. I took a moment to look at him. His smile was cute and charming along with his whole face and short, messy brown hair. He wore a tux and top hat that made his skinny figure look perfect, and what really was stunning was that he actually stood out bright and different. Then his voice went back into my brain and I noticed that his was so wonderful and soft. I then realized how long I was thinking about him, and my eyes were closed in thought. I jolted up and hoped he didn't notice, but the sight I just saw was very odd indeed.
He pulled something frog-like out of his tux pocket that at first I couldn't make the item out in my sight. With the frog, now toad as I realized, he set it sitting on his gloved hand and held it out to the door knob. The toad's throat grew wide and stretched around the knob as his mouth clamped around it. The knob was turning back and fourth in the toad's mouth fast, then the toad went back to normal in his hand. The knob clicked and the door swung open. "Worked just like a key", the man said as he looked up at the sky for a moment. The toad disappeared when I looked back at it. "Name's Brendon, by the way", he said, tipping his top hat in a friendly way and gestured me to walk inside before him.

That is what I got so far for the first chapter. Any tips? And I'll edit the post when I finish the first chapter and I will post other chapters later. Thanks for reading.
