So i'm kinda tired of all the popular stories out their (vampires, werewolves, witches and wizards) and started a new story. The first chapter is done, and i would like your input...

------------------

Prologue
Parting Ways

Acura stood there, staring at the house in front of her. Colorful lights danced around the shadows of the dancing people. The base of the loud music shook the windows and walls. She stood there looking at the house, determining whether or not she should go in.
Kissy was well known for her insane and crazy parties. So it came to no surprise that every teen in the county showed up tonight, when news traveled that Kissy would be moving in a couple of days.
With a sigh, Acura went into the house. The music became suddenly earsplitting the moment the door opened. Warm air floated the barely audible notes out into the cold night. Room after room, people packed the rather large space. Fighting her way through the crowd, she made it to the back of the house to the kitchen. There, Kissy sat with a couple other girls, telling them an unrealistic story. Acura listen to a story about a couple of teen heros defeating this hellish demon. While the girls refused to believe the story she told, tears welled up in Acura's eyes; truth was, the stories were actual adventures of Kissy and Acura's childhood.
Kissy launched into another story and was almost halfway through it when she finally noticed Acura.
“A.K.!” There was excitement in Kissy's voice. “You came!”
“I couldn't miss your last party,” Acura said. She plastered a fake smile on her face, despite that she felt even worse than when she first heard Kissy was moving.
The night was young, but the party ended all too soon. Acura was helping Kissy clean up the tons of beer bottles. Kissy's mom doesn't buy beer for her parties, but nor does she deny other teens from bringing their own. From across the room, Acura could hear Kissy sniffle.
“It feels like tonight is it,” Kissy said from behind the couch. “I mean, I know we'll be getting together tomorrow, but it feels like after tonight, we'll be going our separate ways.”
Acura remained silent; her back was to the couch and Kissy.
“We are getting together tomorrow, right?” Kissy asked when Acura hadn't answered. A silent tear ran down Acura's cheek.
“Right?” Kissy asked again, a little louder this time.
“No.” Acura finally said.
“What! Why?”
“Because, my dads identity got compromised.” Acura's father worked for a private investigator. He had warned Acura and her mother that they might have to move with no warning should his identity get compromised. In the some 20 years he's worked for them, this is the first time his identity has ever been jeopardized.
Kissy had remained silent in shock for a couple of minutes before she finally found her voice to speak.
“When will you be leaving?”
“Tonight. They will come and pick me up, then we leave.” Acura could no longer hide the sadness in her voice.
“Where are you going?” Kissy asked, she was now sitting on the couch. Acura sat down next to her.
“Dunno. Mom said something about 'going back'. But I don't know where that means.” Acura was born on a ship that was transporting her family, along with many other families like hers, to America. When they first got to America, they had settled down in a rather large house in the secluded city, Winnsfield. Her family still owns the house, and she could only asume that they will be returning there.
Kissy leaned over and hugged Acura. She had planned to come back and visit Acura during the summer. But now, that wasn't possible.
Acura's phone vibrated in her pocket, both scaring the two weeping girls and informing them that there time together is almost up. After a very sorrowful goodbye, Acura watched the house that had so many memories, so many parties, fade into the distance from the back seat.

Chapter 1
Tears of Memories

Acura Montgomery sat at one of the library tables; her laptop was open and she was scanning for new messages on her yahoo account. Nothing. It had been a little over three years since the party and that horrible goodbye, and still, she had heard nothing from Kissy. It would've been understandable if Kissy was in school (even though she didn't try hard anyways), but even during the summertime, there was nothing. It was like Kissy had died.
“You know, there are about a dozens things one could say for the mysterious disappearance of your best friend,” a cool, calm, and entrancing voice said from behind her. “But the best advice one could give you right now is to go out and have fun with one of your other friends.”
Zinc Abyssall wasn't like some of the boys in Winnsfield. Most boys cared about their looks; in combination with the latest fashions and their perfectly styled hair. Even Acura had to admit they were hot. But Zinc didn't care about his looks; he wore loose, warn-out jeans, a t-shirt that looked like it came from his father, and combat boots. He had shaggy brown hair, that was some-what neat; handsome green eyes that could hide the most sensitive emotions; and a dark tan from doing yard work during the summer. He was cute, in his own way.
Acura turned to look at him. She flashed a warm smile, letting him know that she knew what he ment.
“And what does 'one' propose?”
“How 'bout a walk downtown?” Acura couldn't refuse his offer. Not only could she use a friend at the moment, but she had been told by countless people to stop worrying over her lost friend.
She stood up, gathered her belongings, and walked with Zinc out of the library. She looked remarkable next to him. Her long, ever-so-slightly wavy black hair, which curls all the way down to the middle of her back, swayed as she walked. Next to him, her semi-pale skin looked abnormal. Her unnatural sapphire-blue eyes, accompanied with her long black eyelashes, glistened against her almost too pale skin. They looked odd walking together: a drop-dead hot babe and an ordinary care-free boy, but neither one cared.
Winnsfield was surprisingly large, given that its location was secluded. The entire city itself could barely fit in downtown Los Angeles. The high school was fairly close to downtown Winnsfield, so the duo threw their bags into Zinc's 2009 black Corvette, and proceded towards downtown.
“So,” Zinc started, trying to ease into a conversation. “How did you and Kissy meet?”
“Oh, gosh. It was like ten-no, twelve years ago.” Acura was looking towards the sky like she could see the numbers before her as she attempted the mental math. “I don't remember. Its been a long time, though.” She stopped and looked at her reflection in a shop window. A single tear made its way down her cheek. Zinc realized the question wasn't the best conversational starter (disregarding the fact that she didn't even answer it). For a second, he couldn't take his eyes off of her; her long hair, smooth skin. It was like he was in a trance; he couldn't move.
“I know you're having a lovie dovie moment,” a loud voice interrupted the silence between Acura and Zinc, “but we've got a situation.” A medium height girl with short cranberry red hair came bouncing up to them.
“Uh, we were-” Zinc started to say at the same time Acura uttered: “We were just-”
“Whatever. Point is; stop daydreaming and follow me.” Sy Sy Sarieno had been the first to befriend Acura when she transferred into the high school. Sy Sy and Zinc had been friends for, Acura seem to believe, as long as her and Kissy had been friends. They were close, but Sy Sy always felt their “posse” needed a third wheel.
Acura discretely wiped the tears from her eyes. Zinc looked away to keep from showing the girls he was blushing.
“Come on!” Sy Sy sounded annoyed more than concerned.
They followed Sy Sy back to the high school, to their homeroom class. Zinc and Acura had planned on skipping the last two hours of school, mainly because all they would be missing was homeroom and an assembly. Sy Sy was the educational dodo of the three and refused to join them in ditching.
“There you two are.” The snide voice of their class president, Alisha Reeves, said, as they entered the classroom. She stood in front of the class in her dancing leotard and sweats, looking rather annoyed with the trio.
“Now that I have ALL of your attention, I'd like to inform you that next week, a new student will be transferring to our high school. She will be put into your class, so please treat her like one of your own.”
Her speech was fancy, but it was just an excuse to be center stage. No doubt she would bring the new girl here personally when she arrived.
“You came and got us for THIS,” Zinc whispered into Sy Sy's ear. Acura didn't have to look at him to know he was annoyed.
“I had to. She wouldn't start till everyone was present.” Sy Sy looked just as upset.
“Thats Alisha for you. Always center stage without her brain.” Zinc and Sy Sy had to cover their mouths from laughing out loud.
“How can you do that?” Sy Sy asked from behind her hand.
“Do what?”
“Say the most brillant comments without laughing.” Zinc explained.
“Oh. Its natural. I just don't have the courtesy of keeping my mouth shut.” Acura stated matter-of-faculty. The entire class burst into laughter, unable to hold it any longer. Even Ms. Evanston was smiling.

---------------------------------------------

Acura had slipped away after the bell rang, signaling for everyone to go to the assembly. She made her way to the nearest bathroom and waited for five minutes, allowing the halls and classrooms to empty before she made her way to the choir room. The door was always unlocked, permitting students to come in and practice whenever. After showing herself into the room, she stood behind the door to give her eyes a chance to adjust to the room's darkness. Before her, stood the rough outline of a grand piano. Slowly, she walked towards it.
Acura slid the piano stool out from underneath it. The stool creaked and moaned as she gently sat down, and lift up the cover over the keys. With the fingers of her right hand, she felt her way to middle C before placing her left hand an octave lower. She gently placed her right foot on the farthest right pedal of the three underneath.
Once in place, her fingers seemed to move on their own; producing the most sweetest sound she has always loved. Closing her eyes, she let her heart control her fingers as she played Pachabel's Canon in D. The gentle, sweet sound of the constant repetitive eighth notes from her left hand; the flowing cloudy tone of the running melodic notes from her right hand. She created a fantasy world using the voice of her fingers, entrancing her mind and soul.
The last notes still rang when she opened her eyes and saw Zinc and Sy Sy standing before her. Their mouths were opened slightly; their bodies frozen by the same hypnotizing sound that relaxed Acura.
“I never knew you could play the piano.” There was astonishment in Sy Sy's voice.
“Nor so well,” Zinc added. “I can play, but only little twiddles. Nothing like Pachebal's Canon in D.”
Acura smiled, she had only ever played the piano in front of her mother, and sometimes her father. She had had many piano teachers in her years of playing, but because of her lack of practicing, and the gift of pure talent, she often got kicked out. She had hardly played in any recitals, and as a result, she became used to preferring no audience for her playing.
Canon in D was one of her favorite songs; she had always loved how it could bring Kissy to tears. Remembering such fond memories brought tears to her own eyes, as she began a second round of the song. Tears ran down her cheeks, gently falling from her chin to the keys of the piano. She had become so mesmerized in her playing that she hadn't noticed the quiet sound of silence and the comfort of Zinc and Sy Sy's arms around her. They didn't need any explanation; they knew she was thinking of the only friend she had had for years.
