Right Now I noticed Activity levels are now at an all time low. Here is what I propose:

1) We all try to post atleast 1-3 each week

2) We have public parties in Gaia Towns or in the public Forums to try to spark interest into the Guild

3) Have a rule for crew where they must be active or risk being demoted and replaced by other active members (you might not think it, but what keeps members active are the crew actually being active as well.)

4) Affiliate, Affiliate, Affiliate (like the saying: Location, Location, Location)

5) Advertise, Advertise, Advertise

6) CONTESTS!!!! WHO DOESN'T LIKE CONTESTS?!?!?!

Believe it or not, the activity levels are far from their all time low. At one point, there would be weeks between posts. Since then, I've made made many efforts to revitalize this guild. The early ones worked, but the same tactics later on barely did anything. Even if this guild isn't super active, I would still like to have at least one thread where everyone posts all the time. I set up an advertising thread that has brought in a few new members, and of those, two have posted, so that's a good start I guess. I also demoted a few people several months ago who hadn't posted in the guild in a year.

I know for a fact that we already have several really great members. What I'm wondering is why those members don't show up here as much as they used to. I have high hopes riding on the Halloween event. If I can get some really expensive item to give as a prize, that might attract more people. Anyway, thanks for the enthusiasm! Even if a few people are posting regularly, that really helps bring in others who don't normally post much.

I See over half the crew in this guild though that haven't even posted since july or august, and as a fellow Guild Captain, I don't like seeing that, so all my crew know requirements that they must reach (though now my own guilds are dead, so I am starting up a Disney Chain, hoping that will bring more life.) I am just tossing ideas as well out there.

Well, the core group of this guild has been around for a little over three years. I only demoted the ones I'm sure aren't going to be coming back. I've chatted with these people, and the ones who aren't coming back said that they are involved in other things now, and feel like they are spreading themselves too thin to be able to keep with with all of their guilds. I have good reason to believe that most of the people who aren't around much anymore will be back at some point or other. I took two long hiatuses from Gaia, but I came back from them. The first one started at the end of 2005, and the second one started when my student teaching became too much to handle. It was during my second hiatus that this guild lost its vitality. I tried to get on every so often and post something, but I just couldn't find the time to come back. I'm thinking that similar things are happening with many of our members. Many people here have jobs, children, and other big things to deal with. And, I know that many times, living in the real world as a working adult can cause people to fall away from Gaia. I've watched so many of my friends quit Gaia over the years, but I know that it would be selfish to make them take time away from their families when they don't have much time to begin with. So, it's a hard truth for me to swallow, but people are leaving this guild and Gaia for the real world, and many more will leave in the future. But, for those who still log on occasionally, I want them to have a home to back to on Gaia. There is one guild that I joined in 2005 that was insanely active. Now, there is only one thread that is being posted in, but there are still a few people posting there, so the guild isn't really dead. It's just moved on. I would rather that happen to this guild than have it die. That's why I'm trying hard not to spread this guild too thin.

In the hope that we may matter something, to someone, anywhere, we bathe in our own mind's blood...

Well if it makes you feel any better, I have absolutely no life. So I lurk.

...only to discover that in massacring ourselves, we drive away the ones we want to impress.

I'm not really worried about the guild, although it does seem a little less active than it was when I joined last year. I'm just glad there are still people posting here, although I do hope activity picks up some more. 3nodding

Sorry to hear about your guilds, Epcot. I feel bad because I haven't posted in the Celebration guild. I must admit that I'm a little intimidated because I'm TERRIBLE at roleplaying. I mean, I'm just completely awful at it. It's embarrassing how bad I am at this stuff. sweatdrop Otherwise I would be a lot more active...

I keep telling you that you are NOT a terrible roleplayer! You are far more literate and competent that many that I have seen. You are just way too harsh on yourself!
