I have nothing wrong with the front ensamble but i do have one question. Why is it that the front ensambles i know allways practice inside? At my high school they never came outside to join us in our run throughs. Yes i relize that they have alot of heavy equipment and it takes them a long time to get it out to the practice lot and back inside again. But they have to perform outside with the rest of the band so shouldn't they practice outside with the rest of the band?

Our pit usually practices outside, at least when they're working with the drumline and when we're in ensemble. During band camp, they were in the band room...we saw a note on the board from them that was asking to go outside. xd So apparently our pit likes to be outside? I'm okay with that. They should be in this miserable weather like the rest of us, anyway.

As a pit (or front ensemble) section leader, I can explain that phenomenon well:
If we don't learn our music alone, with a metronome, it's impossible to learn outside with the out-of-time band, sun, drum major right below the sun, inaudible metronome, and director screaming at everyone.
Also, if they're anything like my pit, we play with the music recordings sometimes to see how we're doing in relation to the music itself. So their rehearsal alone really doesn't hurt them, although it probably hurts the band as a whole if pit has solo parts like we do in half our show this year.
As for my pit, we go out for the first half of rehearsal, come up after dinner, and have sectional the rest of the day. It works very well.

Our is inside more towards the beginning of the season, while the band rehearses marching and drill, the percussion learns marching and drill, and the guard learns their guard moves and drill. We often separate into winds, battery, pit, and guard.
By around October, the pit is usually out with us so we can rehearse the entire show. The only time they're not out there is when we're learning or cleaning drill, which we often do without playing.
During all-music days, at least this year, we've been rehearsing either with the band broken into percussion and winds or together completely.

Our pit's music is really hard, and all of us learning our music together would just be...horrible. Bad. Disgusting. xd Our pit still goes outside to learn music when they can during band camp- we have a lot of area to use because nobody else is there, so it's really easy for the pit to find somewhere quiet.

Our pit (what little we've had) does both. Music inside and outside for maneuvers when the music is being run outside.

Ours stays inside until they are summoned outside for about five minutes to play A song, then they flee back up to the band room. Though it does pay off, every Friday they do a great job.
