There is no true way to tell what is exactly inside that box. It's a chance, really. The only thing you can know for sure about it is that the item inside is for your house. As Paradoxismminant mentioned, you can just sell the trunk if you don't want/need anything for your house, or you can chance it and open the chest to see what item you will get. Just keep in mind that what you receive is random; you don't know what kind of house item you may get.
