Well I just finished Farcry 2 and loved the ending of the game. However many people hated it for some reason or another. I noticed the same thing with Fallout 3 (Pre-broken Steel), but it makes very little sense to me. From the people who I've talked too it seems like they hated the self sacrifice at the end of each game. It's quite strange becuase many people think it was bad writing that led to these endings. In each game simply walking out of the end of the game perfectly fine would be more absurd than any other ending.
So here's the topic, the ending to the two games above, and other endings that you felt strongly about.

"I'm the flame...Two come to mind: The end of The Dark Tower series, and the end of Serenity. Love the series, absolutely detest the endings. ...I can't be burned."

In terms of ending in itself I found Farcry 2 to be mediocre/boring not to great but good enough if you just wanted to shoot things
What made it crap for many people was that every merc, including the DEAD ones, were suddenly trying to kill you how did le dead come back alive?

One strong ending in my mind, would have to be Shadow of the Colossus. I mean, the character ends up releasing a demon to save a girl's life. Dang good stuff.

I actually did enjoy the ending of Farcry 2. I thought it was an interesting twist, and I felt it suited the game pretty well. Fallout 3 on the other hand, I found incredibly weak.
For games with good endings, I always liked Secret of Mana's ending, and Star Ocean's endings. Also, Lunar had a really good end too. Shining Force I & II had good endings as well.
For games with sub par / bad endings, hate me if you want, but I feel most of the Final Fantasy games except for 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 I think they were. 7's ending was pretty dumb if you ask me. Also, Halo just plain sucked all the way through : / Gears of War had a pretty stupid end to me.
A lot of games these days, to be honest, had really shitty endings if you ask me. Then again, a lot of those games also have terrible stories as well, seeing as developers are seemingly more interested in making their games " LOLSOOOOSHINY " over having good mechanics and stories behind them

Just beat Uncharted 2 (for the 5th time), and totally realized that the ending is the same as the first. (Dude discovers that treasure is cursed/a threat to mankind, ends up defeating bad guy, looks off into sunset with lady).
