Vanessa Dolly Vanessa looked at him, putting down her hands. Underneath her bangs her brow furrowed, it was obvious that he didn't want to be called "Prince" but it was odd, that's what he was; a Prince. "I-It's alright, I'm sorry. You did nothing wrong," she waved one hand in the air again, trying to somehow signal to him that he was innocent, for some reason this method seemed the most reasonable at the moment. "Um, interests."
Vanessa let out a small noise, a tiny cough that sort of cleared her throat at the same time. "I don't have any," sheepishly she rubbed he shoulder, shrugging as things had begun to feel awkward. "D-Do you, Hayden?" Vanessa looked down, cringing at her own nervous stutter.

He began to trace a small pattern, confused by her answer. "I study much of the time." he answered noncommittally. He fiddled with a bunch of grass, twirling the pieces around his fingers. "Why did you stop me before?" he asked, his voice still soft, though he seemed more earnest this time. finally he lifted his gaze to look at her, his eyes bright and nervous and overjoyed all in one. "Tell the truth??"

Vanessa Dolly Confusion flooded her thoughts for a moment, why wouldn't she rush to his aid, wouldn't everyone? "I'm pretty sure anyone would, Hayden." She looked at him, her eyes surprised while her head was tilted slighty to the floor. At first his name wasn't so easy to say, but this time it rolled out easily. How could he not believe that his own people wouldn't help him?

It was the darkness that had caused him to lash out that night, to put half of the village into ruins. It was something that he was beginning to understand, and with that understanding, he could begin to eliminate it. He sighed, finally realizing what his father had been saying all of those years about being a great leader. "I made it through half of the village." he explained, keeping his eyes to the ground, to ashamed to look her in the eye and to feel the piercing innocence and goodness that would shine there. "Nobody tried to stop me but you. Everyone else was afraid." and why shouldn't they be? he thoguht to himself. He could have easily killed any of them had they moved to close.

Vanessa Dolly "I don't think they're scared of you, I just think they don't understand." To her it was simple as that, the royal families life was different from the commoners, their life wasn't really plastered all over. Sure they were gossiped about through out the town but the people didn't know every single detail, only what they could see from the the outside; which she could tell, wasn't much.
For a moment she sat there, looking back at the grass just like he had and remembering that she was going to soon enter that same lifestyle. She thought about how the towns people might talk about her, how she might become the new gossip and then she wondered if they knew what exactly the gossip about her was.

He felt as though he needed some sort of reassurance, and that he could receive through her shining eyes. He searched, trying to find what he sought, feeling like a small child, insignificant and young. He allowed some pebbles to fall through his fingers back to the earth from whence they came. Back to the mother that birthed them. Finally he dropped his eyes again, feeling ashamed once more. "I'm not fit to rule." he murmured, almost to himself.

Vanessa Dolly Vanessa shrugged, lifting up one hand and putting onto the back of her shoulder; scratching her shoulder blade. "Who will rule if you cannot?"
She hadn't even realized what she said, how would those words affect him? But in fact she had questioned that very thing, if he couldn't who would?
"You need to stand up and take control of your town, put some effort into it." Her hand had fallen back into her lap, her legs stretching out before her and forming two parallel lines. The wind swept by more frequently, and the topic made her think of Christofer - but she had never stopped thinking about him.
"I think it is time that I go back."
