How high would u have to count to reach the letter "a"?
ie.one, two, three, etc.
I have heard two reasonable answers to this.

Are you asking when the letter a appears in the word form of the number? Or is it something entirely different?

I am thinking hex in HTML color? 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f. So it would be the 11th number.

I'd say never because a isn't a number and if you count numbers there is no way to reach a. Unless it's a variable in which case it could be any number at all.

OR!
10 if you do 0123456789a so thats ten numbers

I agree with Asura, unless you're dealing with fractions. Then it gets a bit complicated... twisted rofl (Do you take the largest fraction or the smallest???? twisted )

ok, the way i figure it, your start the alphabet with A,B,C... and you start counting with 1,2,3... so in essence, i gather that the first letter, the letter A, should go with one. for those of you who started saying that A=0... idk. all i know is that i start counting at 1, not zero, so im going with one. if you line the numbers up with the letters, you get A being the 1st letter therefore, A should equal one. by saying A=0 implies that there is a secret letter between the letter A and Z. Otherwise, we would only have 25 letters in the American Alphabet (since A technically is 0). Also, saying that A is a fraction would say that there are letter fragments before or after some letters. (if A=.5, and B=1.5, then ?=1) this is way too comlpicated for me ^^ maybe it isn't for some people XD

And based on an alphanumeric system using only each symbol once, a person starting on the number 1 would have to count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a; having thus skipped 0 counting a total of 10 symbols. In reference to my earlier quote from u you would have to go u, v, w, x, y, z, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a; having thus counted 17 symbols. So the answer, depending on your viewpoint the answer is either 10 or 17 times. of course, this is depending on your use of an alphanumeric system.
