:: Damien left figured it was better that way. He would go hunting for the girl without hunting for her. He would come by every day to check on Rayden while he made preparations. Once they were done Damien would score not only the cat girl but would finally prove to his brother that he was the better men of the two of them.::

::Rayden was inside of his mountain resting. His brother was such an idiot. Thinking he would help him. Rayden knew his brother well. He would have to leave his home to avoid the girl being captured but if he left the girl would follow him and Damien wouldn't be far behind his scent. As long as Leana listened to his warning she would be safe but Rayden worried, was worried that even if she listened to him, he couldn't stay away from her forever. It had been a long time since his friend's death and Rayden needed a mate, needed a friend.

Dawn broke the hills all of a sudden it seemed to Matsuko. She stretched with a quick, cat-like yawn and bounded back down the mountain the way she had come. Her good spirits had returned with the light. She trotted into the forest, wondering what she would find to eat that day.
A passing bird gave her directions to a berry bush and a squirrel offered to share his nut cashe, but she politely refused him. The berries the bird had suggested were wild but sweet, and stained her fingers purple at the ends. She wondered if May liked berries and decided to gather up as many as she could hold and take them to see her friend.

"I miss him." whimpered Leana as she woke up on May's couch. May was in the kitchen making breakfast with her limited supplies.

"I think we all do." smiled May.

"Will he come back?" asked Leana. Rayden had been the first man that had helped her and had not abused her and yet he told her he was a monster and she should avoid him. Leana didn't understand his logical or his reasons. All she knew was she needed him. Needed his warmth and comfort. May and Matsuko were nice to her but Rayden had saved her and he was good looking too. Leana began to feel she should tell them tell May and Matsuko how she felt about Rayden.

"May." began Leana.

"Yes what is it? Breakfast is ready. Come eat and then tell me."

"All right." smiled Leana as they sat down and ate together.

:: Afterwards Leana looked to May and spoke::

"What would you do if you thought you liked Rayden?" asked Leana.

"Oh, well I would probably fight my feelings for him. He's a demon and I'm a human. I don't think that relationship would work but you Leana you are a demon."

"Only half." admitted Leana.

"Really?" asked May curious.

"Yes my father was a demon hunter and my mother a captured slave. She is still a slave of the hunters. I don't even know if she's alive or not. Damien was also a prisoner there and he helped me to escape. He told me he didn't have time to save my mother." explained Leana.

"Damien? Who's that?" asked May.

"The person who took me away from the hunters and brought me to Rayden after he had his fun with me." explained Leana.

"Oh that's terrible. Let's tell Matsuko about this. Maybe there's a way she can help." suggested May.

"No, don't. I have enough problems now, keeping myself out of sight. I don't want to endanger anyone else." whispered Leana.

"We are your friends and as friends we have to protect you and help you." smiled May.

Rory Danner sat on the balcony above the back door, listening quietly. Her father spoke with another DH, as she was wont to call them. From the strange events of the previous afternoon with the green haired girl in the market and the cat demon, superstitions had arisen.
"Is she some new kind of demon, do you think?" her father asked.
"I don't know," said the other, whose name was Li Sen. "She seemed human, but so do many."
Rory thought why does it matter?
"And what of the demons that escaped? Has there been any word?"
"Not a one. The cat was clever, and he covered his tracks well. We lost him in the marsh."
"Ah," said Rory's father Norridan. "How did they escape, anyway?"
"We still haven't figured it out," said Li Sen. "His chains were not broken, nor were the girl's. We think that perhaps someone set them free."
Rory smiled.

:: May and Leana sat together as Leana told May about her mother and her nightmare of a father. The demon hunter whose name she didn't know.::

"My mother's name is Kisala and she is very shy and subtle. I was with her the night of her capture." began Leana.

"Okay tell me more." spoke May.

"My mother and I lived in a clan of all cat demons but we were exiled for no other reason then the fact my mother had been seen by a demon hunter and the clan couldn't risk getting discovered. The place where I was, was a place where they breed demons and then sold them for large amounts of money. My mother was supposed to be breed with a wolf demon named Jet. I was supposed to be breed with a fox demon named Wayne. I don't know why they are doing this but they are destroying clans and they are hurting people too. They have to be stopped." cried Leana.

::May embraced her and whispered in her ear.::

"I'm here now, no hunter will harm you again." smiled May. Leana hoped she was right. Leana wondered about her mother. Was she alive, was she safe, or was she being breed right now with that wolf demon. His eyes glew like fire everytime he looked at her mother. Jet, he had always tried escaping every time he was feed. Leana wondered if his eyes of fire were his anger towards the hunters. Leana only hoped her mother was safe.::

A traveler joined Matsuko on the narrow path. At first the gray fox, nor the girl, said anything, but walked on in a companionable silence.
He wondered if the green-haired girl had not noticed that he was a demon. Then he wondered if she were a demon herself, but decided that she was not.
"Would you like some berries?" she asked, holding out a handful.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise, and held out his hand to accept them.
"Thank you," he said.
They walked further.
"Where are you from?" she asked.
"Far, far to the west and a little north," the fox replied.
"An islander?"
Again, the fox was surprised, and nodded. "How could you tell?"
"You smell like salt," the girl replied. "And fox."
So, he thought. She knew.
"I am Matsuko," she said.
"Spindle," said the fox, inclining his head. His accent was thick and brogue and difficult to understand, but she seemed to have no trouble.
"Your voice is nice," she said. "Do you sing with it?"
Spindle laughed. "I do."
"Go ahead," she said.

"The minstrel boy to the war hath gone
In the ranks of death you will find him
His father's sword he hath girded on
And his wild harp strung behind him
'Land of song!' sang the warrior bard
'Though all the world betray thee
One sword at least thy rights shall gaurd
One faithful harp shall praise thee!'
The minstrel fell but the foe man's chains
Could not bring his proud soul under
The harp he loved ne'er spoke again
For he tore her chords asunder
And said 'No chains shall sully thee,
Thou song of love and bravery!
Thy songs were meant for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!'"

Matsuko quickly caught the tune and hummed with him in harmony, and their voices rang through the trees.
"You're a warrior too, aren't you? Like the boy in the song I mean."
"Yes," Spindle replied.
Matsuko looked at him thoughtfully, then nodded to herself and continued walking. "That is okay."
Spindle smiled. What an odd creature.

Matsuko like the fox's spirit. She thought very little of taking him with her, and he seemed to content to follow where she led.
"May?" she called as they neared her hut. "I'm back."
"Come in," May answered.
Matsuko opened the door and stepped inside. She emptied the berries onto the table and gave Leana an encouraging smile. "I brought a friend," she said. She turned as the fox stepped in front of the doorway. "His name is Spindle."

:: Leana took one look at the fox and knew. He wasn't Wayne the fox she was supposed to mate with but she somehow knew him.::

"Hello." whispered Leana hiding behind May in fear of the stranger.

"Welcome back Matsuko." smiled May. May wondered if she should tell Matsuko of what Leana had told her. It was best to wait. She didn't know anything about this friend yet and better safe than sorry.

(Introducing Leana's mother and random hunters and Wayne and Jet.)

::Kisala was sitting in her cell all alone as she stared at Jet who was pacing back and forth in his cell the chains attached to his feet making a scratching sound on the stone floor.::

"Jet, stop that please." asked Kisala. Every day she thought of Leana. A cat demon had escaped from this torture and had took her daughter as a souvenior. She only hoped she was safe.::

"I'll stop when I'm free." growled Jet. "I'm not going to put up with these humans any longer."

"Jet, calm yourself. Anger won't free us." spoke Wayne from his cage.

::Wayne was an older demon that Jet and had been there longer. Wayne had tried to escape before and had scars to show for it, he still wondered how Damien had pulled it off.::

"Thanks Wayne. Do you think my daughter is safe?" asked Leana.

"She is strong willed, I know this for I know you. She will be fine." spoke Wayne.

"Thank you."

"Come on guys. We need to escape this place. Surely if we put our heads together we can think of something?" asked Jet.

"Well, I think I may have an idea." spoke Kisala.

"Then speak woman speak." urged Jet.

"Okay." spoke Kisala. "We need a distraction and I think I could do it and allow you and Wayne enough time to escape the hunters." spoke Kisala.

"Sounds like a plan. You okay with this?" asked Jet with a worried face. He liked Kisala liked her daughter better but Jet was a wolf and she was a cat, it would never work.

"Yes, as long as I get to see my daugther again. I'm willing to take the risk." spoke Kisala.

"No worries, you will see her again." spoke Wayne.

"This is May and Leana," Matsuko said. "They are my friends too."
"Well met," said the fox, bowing.
"Are you going to come in?" Matsuko asked, looking at him.
"It is the custom in my country to wait for permission to enter a home," Spindle said. "Especially a stranger's, if ye'll pardon my speaking mesdemoiselles. I do not mean that there is anything strange about you."

"Sure you guys are always welcome." they entered and Leana wondered why the fox looked familiar? Where had she seen him and then it came to her.

"I'm busting out of this dump." spoke Damien as he looked over to Jet who was her cell neighbor

"The only way out is if your dead." spoke Jet. Damien waited for them to bring the morning food and used his tail to swipe the keys for the cell. That night while the others were asleep, Damien freed himself and saw the girl fox. They had never been both together as mates but he could have himself some fun and then throw her to his pathetic brother who couldn't score a girl if he tried. Damien threw her over his shoulder as alarms sounded. Damien went to the end of the room and moved a barrel as there was a trap door. This was a hideout of a demon hunter's despise. Always a sercet escape route. Damien followed it to the forest.

Leana woke up on his shoulders as he ran through the forest and suddenly there was another fox running through the woods. She barely caught a glimpse of him that night. She was sure that fox was Spindle.

"Spindle, have I seen you before?" asked Leana her courage lifting if it would help to find her mother.

Spindle looked hard and long at the cat girl, then slowly shook his head. "I do not believe so, lass. It is possible that ye have seen me, though I couldn't say how. I came from far awa, and have only been in this place for a few days. Why do ye ask?"

"When Damien, a cat like myself escaped the his slavery he took me with him and while we were running, I saw a fox like you, looks almost identical. Please if I have seen you. Please do you know how to save my mother?" asked Leana.

"Your mother?" asked May. "Tell us more Leana."

"My mother and many others arre in slavery of the hunters. They are mating them against their wills for their own experiments and to sell for a large profit." spoke Leana.

"Spindle." asked Matsuko.

"It's not the first time I've heard of this."
