So I'm required to read a book called "Amistad," by David Pesci, for my U.S. History class. The story is simple: a group of African men, who were taken from their homes/tribes in Africa to be auctioned as slaves, revolt against their white-masters while crossing The Middle Passage and their journeys afterward.
I thought it would be boring as hell for the sole reason of being a required reading for a history class. However, I JUST started reading it today, and I barely put the thing down; I've already read a third of the book. It's an awesome book. Even though it's fictional (which I prefer over non-fictional) and historically-based, it's still drenched in drama, action, violence, great imagery, and the author's transitions are flawless. So yeah. "Amistad," if you want another good read~

Seems weird that a fictional book is assigned in a History class, but yay at least. XD
I need to get back into reading books. I love them, but I got out of the habit of reading them. DX The last book I read was for my English Comp II class, but two out of three were super interesting. Learned a lot about the food industry.

I haven't r
I finished reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" the other day, it had a really slow start, I'd been reading slowly over a few days. After the two main characters meet almost half-way through the penny dropped and I literally didn't put the book down until I'd finished it xd
I really want to read the sequel now but my Dad hasn't finished with it yet. The third one is massive... so I might have to persuade him to let me read it first.
It's a Swedish crime/mystery with some really ingenious and unique characters.

I'm rereading Little Women and a cheesy lesbian porn novel. It's taking forever with both because I only read in the bath, and I haven't had time for looooong baths lately, just quick showers. crying
