Do you judge other fashions or subcultures?
Yes. They judge me, and everyone is entitled to an opinion.
  Sometimes, but I wish I didn't.
Never. If I expect them to accept me, I must accept them.

I feel, as a unique dresser, that I am more accepting of other unique fashions, but sometimes, and quite ironically, I find that I am very judgmental when it comes to certain things regarding fashion and it's stereotypes.

For example, in ero lolita, sometimes the bottoms of my bloomers show. Covered or not, they're still my underclothes. A friend jokingly pointed out that it was hypocritical that I found this okay, but boxers showing above baggy pants was not. Joke or not, they had a point.

Also, I'm guilty of thinking that every lolita is secretly in love with Japan.

Anybody else ever catch themselves thinking like that?

I have never met a cool scene kid. (Hey, cool scene kids, where you at?) So, I tend to think that all scene kids are as annoying as the ones that I've met... I think that dressing gangsta looks unprofessional, but so does full on lolita. work clothes and not-work clothes are totally different, so I don't judge how professional someone is by their attire outside of the workplace.

If lolita came from any other country, I'd still love it just as much. My love for Japan and my love for lolita are separate, but they overlap. It is nice to be able to understand the lolita videos that are in Japanese.

I am sorry for hoarding the cool scene kids!
All of the scene kids I've met are real sweethearts; with a gay, childlike air, so if I see another one I always assume they're going to be the same way. sweatdrop I never realized how judgmental that was before. Also, if I see someone dressed "gangster", my first impression is rather unflattering. Most of the boys in the high school I graduated from dressed like that, and most of them were not worth... ah, "the cap one would bust" into them.

I'm insecure so I judge a lil, things like too small of shirts that show belly, super short shorts, flipflops, and wearing sweatpants/pj pants and slippers to school. I feel there's a lack of pride in appearance but that's judgmental of me, so shame o me.=w=;
Noone really judges me, or if they do, they keep it to themselves or it's something kinda nice.^//^;; Unfortunatly, the most negative judgment I've gotten recently has been from this guild. Fashion is an opinon, that's why there's so many styles. I hate jeans, but I don't diss people that wear them. Just because my style isn't someone else's style doesn't mean they should verbally abuse me for it. >m<
Sorry if I ranted in the wrong place, I felt it was relevant.

bloomers=/=panties/boxers o__o I think that's a little different. Also, bloomers show at the bottom (thighs), while boxers tend to show off the top (Asscrack! Great, totally wanted to see that. Thanks.)
I'm not too judgmental. When I see something trashy, I assume the person wearing it is trashy. That's about the extent of my judgment.

My rant-
Okay guys. I'm not judgemental at all. I know that it could come as a shock, but truely, im a open-minded person, and a kind heart to boot. I have a year-younger brother. We kinda grew up in "the hood" and i've been exposed to every kind of person imaginable. My brother would be the one you guys are talkin about with the boxers showing above the oants. But he's good about it, he dont show no crack. (lol) For a while, i was into the "gangsta" look, but it was mixed with hard-core punk. In my freshman year of High School, i was really trying to find myself, and therefore; tried out alot of differen't styles. Now im just a mix of Japanese culturistic (is that a word?! lol) properties. *my love for Japan and the music didn't start me on lolita, Kamikaze Girls and the Interwebz did* In mo old HS (not the one i graduated from) I was friends with any kind of person imaginable. At first i had a strong dislike for cheerleaders and "preppy" people. I got to know a few of the cheerleaders and some of my friends still are kind-of preppy people. Sophomore year; i changed totally, being open towards every kind of people. (even the stoners. lol) Then i moved, and had to switch schools, which i hated. I made lots of friends, because im very easy-going and childish. But the new school i chnged to was very clique-y... I didn't like it. I was harshly made fun of because what i looked like, and what i liked. But by senior year; i had a good group of friends that i mostly still talk to today. My whole idea is that if you can accept someone for what they like and what they look like, then they should be able to accept you all the same.

I see what you're saying, but I feel it's kinda like the difference between wearing short shorts and flip flops, or a skirt that's longer, but with black thigh highs and heels. It shows less flesh, but it's sexier. While there's no butt showing, it's still lacy underthings. I dunno, maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges. Boxers showing is usually considered trashy, but bloomer lace showing is more sexual? *ponders*

That's a good philosophy. I wish I could adhere to it better. I try, but I still have my hang ups.

I've never thought of bloomers as sexy before. They are underthings, and they often have lace, but...
I guess it's because of my background in historical costuming. I could never really find something used to reduce chafing sexy. sweatdrop

XD that's actually a great point. I always think of clothing's aesthetics and not the functionality. So historical costuming, eh? This sounds interesting... do tell.

Oh, I was raised in the woods by crazed medieval reenactors.
I jest, of course. It was just a very small town.
When I was growing up, my family did alot of reenacting, mostly SCA, which resulted in things like my sister learning how to climb trees in a hoop skirt. This is probably where I got my mentality of "if you can't do it in a skirt, you can't do it." I learned how to sew at a fairly early age, seven or eight; though of course at that point I had a great deal of help from my mother and elder sisters.
Now that I'm getting into lolita, I keep finding myself thinking in terms of historical costuming, like "it's a hot day, man, I wish I had a knee-length hoop skirt. A nice breeze up a hoop skirt..." or "Oh, I see! This is a quasi-coat that stops at the knee!"
It also caused me a bit of frustration when I was first getting into it, as could be seen in the first versions of my steampunk lolita, were I was focusing too much on Victorian fashion. The length and shape of the skirt are perfect for a Victorian girl just about to enter womanhood, but just a little narrow and long for lolita. But it's better now. I love that dress.

That actually sounds really cool. Hey, so steam loli? Maybe we could move this to that Uncommon styles of lolita thread. I really want to try some steamloli and I'd like to get more into the victorian styles too, I really like their influence on outfits I've seen, but I really don't know much about the history behind it.

I must say i am very judgemental;i grew up in a super conservative christian home, so if it is to short too low too sexy too hoochi too ganster too liberal it subconsiously became a direct reflection on that person. Though judging is looked down upon i still cant help it (sorry if you do not agree with the following.. its just how i think) they ovboiulsy want to be associated with a group,so to say, annyway & if they know the sterotype for the "group" & still become whatever, they must be the sterotype. I grew up in "tha hood" also ...well more like a third world country, but i didnt dress gansta because i knew 1) my parents would kill me xp 2) i knew what others would think about me instantly
