So recently my history teacher told us to read Shogun by James Clavell... I've never liked history and thought oh what the heck might as well..

Luck has it that is a SUPER DUPER AWESOME FANTASTIC FINGERLICKING GOOD BOOK! Not only is it action packed but the descriptions are marvelous!

Best of all I've started to learn japanese! It's quite fun! There isn't much but still! It's a start.

Anyone else who has read the book is more than welcome to share comments and feelings XD

Just swinging through the guild. And yeah, there are a few phrases scattered about. I enjoyed the books when I read them, but that was maybe seven or eight years ago now and i'd have to go back and read them again to really support or condemn them.

I do recall being a bit confused by some differences in the language I read in the books and what I learned when I started seriously studying Japanese. But once I figured out the context of when to use a certain way of saying something and so on, I understood the language used is correct.

Hope the books help propel you further into more exploration of Japanese culture and language. smile

I've used a shogun book for both my history class and japanese class! I thought it was a great way for us to take what we learned and used it to transalate Japanese sentences! (for the japanese one) and in my history one i learned alot of cool stuff smile

~♥No one's going to take me alive

I have watched one episode of the series Shogun and it was quite good, they go over Japanese rules and stuff so I really want to watch all the episodes =D
Didn't know they were based on a book, but now that I know I am so going to see if they have it in the library! Hooray!

The time has come to make things right♥~
