If we stop cutting down trees!!!

They supply fresh oxygen that gets rid of the chemical that makes the sun rays stay near earth!

The amount of carbon dioxide converted to oxygen through photosynthesis is negligible in comparison to the amount of carbon dioxide that is being pumped into the atmosphere.

Most photosynthesis actually takes place in the oceans -- through phytoplankton and cyanobacteria. Solutions have been proposed to use these unicellular organisms to offset our emissions, but this could cause further problems in ecosystems. Ultimately what needs to happen is we need to cut our emissions. There is no way that we can continue at this rate. Global warming is only one issue that is associated with these emissions. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is nearing a point that could be catastrophic for much of plant life.

The greenhouse effect is a little more complex than what you're describing as well.

but she has a point. Using a device(such as an iphone or other such devices) that either has a readily available solar charger(or you can get your hands dirty and make one http://hackaday.com/2009/02/12/solar-charging-your-ds/) you can have an everpowered device that never needs to be plugged into a wall, but you can take all the notes you will ever need.
It'll photosynthesize like a plant. razz

I personally plan to buy one for my ipod touch that doubles as a case, after I get my car taken care of and college classes too.
But yeah, every little bit you can reduce on helps. smile

I am just blown away at how many technical words you girls just used hehehe.

Global warming and climate change go hand in had. To reduce the problem, it is more than just reducing emisions. Its reducing consumption of energy. We have to do this all on a global mass. CO2 (carbon dioxide) is the main cause of climate change. It affects the temperature and how strong storms/natural disasters can be. It's funny that you mentioned to stop cutting trees, because many people believe that planting more trees would cancel global warming and therefore is the solution. But in fact, it wont, this specific mentality is referred to as "Carbon Offsetting". That mindset hasn't worked one bit, it just delays the inevitable, the temperatures will rise quickly. In my little climate change handbook the author states, "The setting up of these 'offsetting' projects creates the perception that we can carry on polluting at the rates we currently do [without really affecting the environment]."

There are plenty of things you can do. Check out my journal in my profile to see what you can do to reduce your carbon emissions but they all have to do with home heating, hot water, lighting, cooking, keepiing things cool, washing dishes, washing and drying clothes, electrical appliances, electrical gadgets, trash, travel, shopping, and gardening. Now not all of them may be up there right this minute because I am still working on placing more info in my journal, but if you don't want to wait for me, go ahead and just google climate change and one of these topics will show up.
