Preface of A Wolf’s Journey 2

The journey was over Daceria was home with Skye. Adam was in town getting supplies for the winter months. Adam was on special medicine in case Keri tried her tricks again. Daceria had to go and meet Adam in town. She had to wait for Kai to arrive. There was no way Daceria would leave Skye alone when there were hunters and demons around. Skye was only a quarter demon and barely able to talk yet. Daceria kissed her forehead and went to answer the door. Kai was there standing smiling with a present in his hands.
“What’s this for?” asked Daceria.
“It’s the present for your birthday that I never got to give you because of the hunters.” Smiled Kai. Daceria opened it, inside was a blue pendant engraved with the name Skye.
“What is it and why does it say Skye and not Daceria?” she asked Kai.
“Well when Skye was born I changed the name. She needs it more since she’s only a quarter demon. You see that’s no ordinary necklace. I worked on it for years to try to make myself stronger. I finished it and wanted to give it to you to have to make you a full demon. That pendant allows you to be a full demon if your half and a half demon if you’re a quarter. Now do you understand?” explained Kai.
Daceria was truly amazed how long Kai had been making this pendant. Daceria felt in her hands she had the answer to her most concerned question. Skye could grow up as a half demon never even knowing that she was the only quarter demon in the forest.
“Thank you Kai, I love it so much!” exclaimed Daceria embracing him and kissing him on the cheek. “You’re the greatest.” She smiled.
Kai just smiled back hoping that his idea would work. It was originally for him so he could be stronger than Kallman but Daceria’s daughter needed it the most. He was sure of that much.
Daceria left and made her way to town and attacked Adam from behind with a great big hug. “Hey Adam time for us to go home.” She smiled.
“Look at her does she ever give up?” asked Adam pointing to Keri who was making a speech to the hunters.
“Well, I don’t care what she does as long as I have you and we have Skye.” Smiled Daceria taking his hand and dragging him away from the crowd to the forest entrance. Once in the forest she kissed him and he kissed her back. He let go first and smiled at her.
“You’re still as beautiful as the day I met you.” Smiled Adam putting his left arm around her waist as his right had a big bag of food and supplies in it. “What’s that?” asked Adam seeing the pendant around Daceria wrist.
“It’s for Skye, Kai made it so she could be a normal half demon. We have to wait to put it on till she’s a little older otherwise she’ll just chew it.” Laughed Daceria.
“Yeah, but at least our Skye isn’t as bad as Levi.” He laughed with her.
“Oh, don’t remind me. That kid is most definitely Kallman’s son. He has his temper and Forest’s strong spirit. That’s not a good combination if you ask me.” Smiled Daceria as they headed home.
“Do you think when they grow up they’ll fall in love like we did?” asked Adam.
“If they do I’ll put an end to it. They are cousins Adam!” yelled Daceria.
Had Adam forgot that Forest and she were family?
“Sorry, I was just joking. Skye would never fall for that type anyway. She’ll probably fall head over heels for some human like her mother did.” Smiled Adam pulling Daceria into another warm kiss. Daceria pulled away as they reached the tree.
“Now Adam I don’t want another kid.” She smiled as they entered their home. Kai was inside tied up in toilet paper. Adam and Daceria couldn’t help but laugh. After they got him untangled Adam had to change Skye’s diaper and took her to her room where the changing table was.
“Your kid is like a hurricane. All I did was tell her we would play a game and she smiles and says “I plays games with Uncle Kai” just in kid talk. Then she came out with the roll of toilet paper and before I know it I look like a mummy on Halloween.” Explained Kai. “I swear if this is what kids are like count me out.”
“Kids? You don’t even have a girl yet Kai.” Smiled Adam. Adam had put Skye to bed early.
“You’ll see someday I will have me a wife too.” Mocked Kai sticking out his tongue as he got up and headed out the door towards the swamp. Finally when he reached the tree house there was a note.
Dear Kai,
We went to visit Aurora and Kuriame. They have been begging us to bring Levi over. We left you a note so please feed Charlie while were away.
Love Kallman and Forest, and Levi.
Just his luck now he had to babysit a plant. Kai sat on a tree trunk and watch the clouds roll by. It must be nice to have someone to hold every night and day. A kid to tell stories too. Sometime Kai would have that opportunity with someone.
Kallman, Forest and Levi were in the snow mountains visiting Aurora, Travis and Kuriame.
“Auntie Aurora.” Smiled Levi tugging on her long white scarf. Aurora reached down and scooped him up in her arms.
“You’re just a little troublemaker aren’t you?” Smiled Aurora kissing his forehead. Levi giggled and continued going after the scarf. It was pretty and he wanted it. Levi was two years old one year younger than Skye.
Kallman and Forest had joked about what they would do if Skye and Levi fell in love. They would have to tell them that they were related and could not go out with one another. Kallman hoped he wouldn’t have to explain it, he hoped his son would know by the ears they were related. Daceria and Forest looked almost exactly alike Forest just had shorter hair and no silver ears.
“Do you think Kai got our note?” asked Forest
“Probably and knowing my brother he’s going to kill us when we get back. He gets annoyed having to watch over Charlie all the time.” Smiled Kallman.
“Hey, guys how about you let me babysit Levi for a week or two. It will give you guys a break and give Kai some free time.” Offered Aurora.
“That would be nice.” Smiled Forest handed Aurora, Levi’s diaper bag.
“Thanks, sis I owe you one.” Smiled Kallman kissing his sister goodbye. They began heading back to the swamp. After hours of traveling Kallman and Forest saw Kai fast asleep on a tree trunk. They woke him up and offered him to stay with them for the night. Kai had asked where Levi was and then Kallman explained.
“Oh, okay I need some free time.” Smiled Kai in the morning running off into the swamp. Forest and Kallman just waved as he left.
“We could go visit your sister if you want to.” Offered Kallman. Forest and Daceria hadn’t seen each other for the longest time because of the kids.
“Yeah, I want to see how Skye is growing. She probably has Adam’s eyes and Daceria’s looks.” Replied Forest. Kallman and she walked all the way from the swamp to the forest. They knocked and Daceria and Adam both answered.
“Shh!!! She’s asleep.” They both whispered. Kallman and Forest smiled as they entered. They had a long conservation of what they had been up to for the last three years. Kallman made a funny remark about Kai and Kuriame still being single. They all laughed and enjoyed their short week together. They didn’t even expect what Skye and Levi would grow up to be. They could only imagine.
