Chapter 3: Dragon meets Wolf

“I’m bored.” Complained Skye who was now sixteen years old.

“Well you could go with your father to the village and get us food supplies for the winter months coming up.” Suggested Daceria who was sitting on the couch waiting for Adam to return.

“Mother! I’m sick and tired of always going to the village or going to the swamp. I want to see the world, the sights. I want to know what’s outside of this town.” Explained Skye.

“I told you it’s too dangerous for a young lady like yourself to travel alone.” Answered Daceria. Skye groaned and looked at her mother.

“I can’t believe you’re the princess of silver wolves. You don’t act like it. You act as if you’re the king of me. Well, mother I’m old enough to make my own decisions now. I’m going to see the world whether you like it or not.” Explained Skye storming out the door. Daceria knew what would happen. Skye would find out the truth if she ventured beyond the forest. For beyond the forest was the mountains, then the land of the dead where Darkstorm was buried, then the snow mountains. Daceria knew there was another place beyond the snow mountains, the most dangerous of all places, the land of the demon hunters. It was beyond the mountains down deep into a canyon that went for miles and miles.

Skye walked through the village her pendant in her pocket in case she needed to become a half demon for any purposes. She saw a lot of villagers staring at her ears but that was the norm for her now. What she really wanted to know was what wasn’t her mother telling her. Skye had to find out for herself and she would travel the world to find it out. She would go any distance to know the story of how Adam and her mother met. Daceria never told her that story and she never understood why. Skye had to rest when she reached the end of the village. Skye still didn’t have any answers. Then a young woman with red hair came to her.

“Hello my dear.” Smiled Keri holding out her hand as a gesture of greeting. Skye knew one thing her mother told her, stay away from the hunters and by her uniform she was a hunter. Skye never understood why they were so bad. This lady what did she do to Daceria and Adam?

“Hello, Keri.” Replied Skye standing up and shaking her hand.

“So you know my name? I see your mother has taught you well. Now my dear how would you like to be a hunter?” asked Keri.

“I could never hunt my own kind and besides I want to see the world. I’m tired of Daceria not telling me who I am.” Explained Skye.

“You my dear are the daughter of the princess of wolves. You are also only a quarter demon which is why you carry that pendant around. When you wear it you become half demon as long as you wear it.” Answered Keri.

“How did you know that?” asked Skye.

“I know because there are two pendants. A red one and a blue one like yours. It is said that when the two are put together they give the controller unbelievable power.” Explained Keri.

“That means you want my pendant don’t you?” asked Skye already knowing the answer.

“Yes, I do but I know I can’t just take it from you.” Explained Keri.

“Then how do you plan to take it?” asked Skye starting to back away in fear of Keri’s next move.

“That’s for me to know and you to find out.” Laughed Keri disappearing without a trace. Skye continued to walk through the village. To the end there was a road. Daceria had warned her never to go past the village or forest lands. Skye was sick of day in and day out being forced to stay in the same spot. Skye wanted adventure, she actually dared Keri to try and take her pendant. She would never allow it.

Kurrashi was now nineteen years old. He was no longer chained or imprisoned. He was still a prisoner though and there was nothing he could do about it. Keri and Jannette had him by the throat when they showed him Manah chained and gagged. Kurrashi was now forced to work with them or the last of the black dragons would die. Kurrashi had asked them why he couldn’t talk to her but they wouldn’t explain until he captured Skye. Kurrashi was told once she was secure Manah and himself would be free to go. Kurrashi’s only goal now was to save them. If it meant killing one wolf then so be it. Kurrashi had no idea where to find her or where to go to find her. Kurrashi headed out of the snow mountains and into the land of the dead. Then he continued into the forest lands and still no sign of the girl.
