Is War 'good' or 'bad'- what are some benefits and disadvantages of war and a war filled environments?

Is it the most powerful and long lasting base for the global political interactions of every nation, or the manifestations of the worst parts brought about from the deepest depths of hell?

War is both good and bad. War allows other countries to rest how powerful they are compared to another country and what they need to do to improve their defenses. War bring nothing but pain and suffering to those who have lost their loved ones in battle.

War is... complicated, to say the least. It is glorious, yet it is Hell.... There's chances to test one's skill, honor, loyalty, knowledge, strength, et cetera et cetera, and there's chances to die, crime, slander, dehumanize, break, etc.... It's been fought in the name of god and out of it too. It's been fought over land, oil, stupidity, tradition, water, food, race, freedom, oppression, and many more ridiculous reasons. Wars have been for good causes and for bad reasons. I suppose what I'm trying to say is... war is neither good nor bad. It simply is.

Yes yes, we know that. War, in my opinion, is, has been, and probably always will remain the strongest and primary political system and political subject until we as humans find a way to resolve our differences without violence.

The problem is, there are always people out there that want violence for violence's sake, and when they get any kind of hold on another person, will exploit that, usually violently.

It's becuase people respond physically to other people that we have to respond physically to them- and until no-one breaks the law, beats people up, reacts harshly, then we will always need the ability to defend ourselves- if anything, those that don't respond in violence have all and all die out due to the fact that they die before their ideals prosper.

War is a necessary evil. Without war we would not be able to say we do not like war. Without war ideas would not change. Without war people would still be held captive. War happens every day, regardless of whether or not a given country is at war. There are gang wars, wars between friends, wars of the heart, wars of the mind. War is in every part of our society, and no matter the war there are always casualties.

But these casualties are not forgotten, they continue on after us and live within us. They remind us of why we hate war, and why we go back to war time and time again. War is hardly ever about personal vengeance. Instead think of war as a means to an end. The question is do the means justify the end?

In the revolutionary war the American colonies rose up against the unjust Britain who gave them no representation. While Britain had the right to limit their representation as it was their mother country it sparked dissent in the colonies. The colonies then banded together, and fought. After years of fighting, a new powerful country the America's was created. Several years later they would be united under the constitution and become the United States of America. A place where freedom would reign for many years until corrupt politicians took control and started interpreting the forefathers intentions and going to war over petty differences.

My point? Without the revolutionary war there would have been no creation of America, which means there would have been no hope for so many millions of people who wanted to escape from the oppressions of their home

Without WWII Hitler would have stayed in power, sweeping through the entirety of the earth and wiping out billions and billions of innocent people simply because he needed a scape goat for the things that had happened to the germans

Without the civil war, slavery would still be present in the America's today. As would several other injustices.

War has a purpose, it is not just meaningless political agenda and meaningless killings. Without war none of us would have the ability to come into this forum and speak our minds against our country for committing the ultimate crime of war because there would be no freedom.

War is evil yes...but almost always necessary
