Rellik San I never did that, whilst everyone else was in hoodies, I was in leather jackets and wondering who these weirdoes that were tainting my good name were. Eh. Some of us are lucky I guess.

Jonathonn This is sort of offtopic, but I'm curious. What about fans of genres goth has created? Like, what if someone called themselves goth but listened to dark cabaret? Still up for the job description, or no? (I take no side to this, just curious).

Having to proclaim that you are goth is a key sign that you may be a poser.
If you are so worried about status then you are not fit to be goth. Its not about the label its about the lifestyle and personality, and you won't be a real goth until you don't care about being accepted into the 'goth' group. If that makes any sense

I mean, not a favourite genre of mine -- But certainly something I like to listen to now and then. Any good suggestions? --------- Teriyaki: Well, that does make sense. But why do we spend so much time trying to figure out what's goth and what's not goth? You should hang out with who you want to, do what you want, listen to what you want, and whatever else that makes you comfortable. If you like goth fashion but love country music, why not? Same for if you adore preppy clothing but like goth rock. Do what feels right for you, it's not a matter of pleasing anyone else.
