Lots of people travel with Fido, but in a Sherpa bag or a plastic carrier. But what about the Juicy Couture and Prada pocket books for a stroll around the mall? As ladies and gentlemen of a less than mainstream fashion, what do you think about pets as fashion accessories?

Opinion time@#!! Yay!
Okay, I like to bring my kitty everywhere, because he's a spoiled prince who cries if I leave him alone too long. (I know, it's my own fault, but I like spoiling my animals) But he's in a plain old sherpa. I think pet purses are like stuffed animals. Not silly, because some people can actually pull off carrying them around. I'm just not one of those people. Plain old sherpa for me.
But I have to admit, my sherpa looks like luggage. Luggage looks alright with jeans, but not with anything involving a petticoat. I might give in and give a kitty purse a try. They are really really cute... I guess tennis shoes look good with t-shirts but ridiculous with a gown, so you give in and buy the gaudy heels, right? LV and Prada do have materials and colors that look good with my style of lolita, more classic lolita. And there's already pink candy purses for lolita. I'm okay with pet purses.

I think that small dogs are adorable in those little purses but somehow it doesnt seem too lolita to me unless it was a super cute bag on the smaller size(which doesnt seem comfortable to the dog). I think the lolita way to accessorize with an animal is to go the old vicorian fashion way and keep your little doggies on a little leash to parade them about town. 4laugh

Haha. My babies are 120 & 111 pounds (american akitas lol) I haven't been able to carry them since they were puppies x3
Don't think I'd ever use pets as accessories even if I had small animals though- thats what I have purses & jewelry for lol

Whoa... hi, Rokkenrou! I didn't expect to see another GCDer here. n_n
On the topic, I like the idea of walking your little pooch while wearing lolita. How sweet! Sadly, my pet would never agree with such a venture. I don't have a dog - I have a parakeet.
She is a very sweet songbird with feathers of the purest white snow~ An elegant addition to a lolita ensemble, if only she'd sit still long enough to perch on my shoulder. XD Also she is terrified of my hair.

My Boyfriend wants this wild cat that gets to be as big as me! and I want a tea-cup kitten. Though sense little tea-cup kittens tend to have health issues, i'd be to scared to shove it in a purse and drag with me to places. Though, i can't leave the baby home alone either. Those little tiny white fluffy dogs are adorable, and i always wanted one. Would most likely love dressing in all white if i ever took it out for a stroll.
Though if I took my kitten out, I would most likely carry her in hand/arms wrapped in a blanket, then maybe let her play a little in the grass of a park. Or just play with her outside in my own grass, and strictly keep a hold of her if i ever take her outside. ; n ; Don't want a bird stanching up my tiny cat. u n u;;;
The first picture is adorable. Also my opinion on animals as accessories is that i think it's kinda cruel just to see a pet as something to add to your fashion... It's like the queen in Clockwork (book) who just wanted to have a baby because she thought she would look beautiful with one in her arms. Not a good reason to pick up a pet or have a child.

My opinion of dog purses is somewhat tainted by my opinion that there is no reason to own a dog smaller than a German shepherd. I'm more of a cat person. I have used my cats in photoshoots, but that's rather like using a stuffed animal in a photoshoot. It's cute, but not necessarily practical for everyday use. If I lived in a city, I might consider putting lace on a cat harness for walking my dears, but out here they go in and out of their own volition and I can't keep so much as a ribbon on them. Carrying a pet in a bag seems a little strange to me, and frustrating for the animal. But it doesn't bother me when my sister carries around her companion doll in a sling. I guess it's because he can't walk on his own? I also can't help but think of this character from the 1990 film Repossessed, whom always was carrying a small dog and was at one point revealed to have a closet filled with small animals on hangers.

Raspberry Panic Cute but i wouldn't personally do it beacause its a lot of work;what if they poo in the bag or whathaveyou?? XD EXCELLENT QUESTION! Really, it depends on the pet, the person, and the type/length of the trip. Some animals can hold it for the duration of the trip and just go when they arrive or get back home to wherever. Some can't wait or the trip is just too long for the pet to comfortably hold it, so the owner lets them out in maybe a park or rest area, has little baggies for scooping doop, tosses it in a trash can and the pet goes back in the carrier. My can holds it for short trips, and tell me when he has to go for long trips. I make sure to give Zax plenty to eat and drink, but not immediately before the trip, and encourage him (put him in his litter box) to go beforehand. If it's a long trip, he will tell me if he has to go. I made these disposable trays out of thin cardboard, just unfold and pop into box shape, and pour in some emergency litter I carry in a little baggie in the pouch with his extra food, travel and vet papers, etc, so I can take him to a family restroom or stall and he'll go. Fold, place folded box in baggie, tie knot (nobody else wants to smell that, ha ha) and dispose. Then I'll feed/water him again and we're back on the road. I'm sure though, that there are some pets who just go in the purse. That... would suck.

Recently I have been tempted to make my cat collars to match my dresses with the scraps when I'm done; but knowing my cats they would not stay on longer than a photoshoot.
