"My Friend, The Mad Hatter"
Written By: Erik Caswell
A party in the ballroom, a party quite fair,
beautiful girls with their fancy dress and hair,
music and lights giving it quite a flair.
But yet, I couldn't help but stop and stare
at a man in the corner that was quite dark,
though his clothing was strange, it was right on the mark.
He wore a white tuxedo with a long red tie,
a purple overcoat and to this I cannot lie
his top hat was familiar with a playing card on it's side.
So why, in the corner, would he hide?
As I walked over to ask him what was the matter,
that's when I realized who he was, the Mad Hatter!
Then I froze, I stopped in my tracks.
That is when we made eye contact.
He looked me over and gave a smile,
one that looked quite crazed and vile.
Before I had the chance to turn around,
the Mad Hatter had appeared behind me without a sound.
He put his arm on my shoulder, as if we were friends.
Then he whispered in my ear and created a ring in my head.
"Which girl do you fancy?", were the words he said.
Before I could answer, he pointed to one
and said, "I know in your mind, she's second to none."
Of course he was right, for as you can see
she was a good friend who was close to me.
Then the Hatter told me, "Now's your chance,
for she is alone and has no one with whom to dance."
So with a slight push, he sent me off
and I walked towards her, my feelings aloft.
As I came into her sights, she gave me a smile,
and that's when I knew this would be worth while.
The lights dimmed and the sound was lower,
the feeling was right as the tempo got slower.
I took her hand and she took mine as well.
If it wasn't for that, I might have just fell
because as we danced, we became very close.
This was the moment I cherished the most.
Then in front of her I had knelt
as another guy came before I could tell her how I felt.
Just as this man was about to cut in,
the Mad Hatter had just butt in.
He took the man for a small chat
and in my mind I knew nothing good would come from that.
So then I continued and told her of my love
and soon after that there were tears from above.
As I looked up she was crying with a smile on her face
and she pulled me into a loving warm embrace.
For she had loved me too and the rest was pure bliss,
as we had both shared our first sweet kiss.
I still don't know why he had helped me that night
but he had made everything perfect and right.
When life is bad or something is the matter,
I know I can count on my friend, the Mad Hatter.
Now my love and I live happily ever after,
all because of my good friend, the Mad Hatter.

What did you think of my lovely little poem?
Please leave some comments for me to read.
I may be making some more adventures of the Mad Hatter and I, so look forward to that if you liked this one! ;D
I wrote this in school today out of sheer boredom and it turned our pretty good. My first ever poem actually. o.o
