That's one thing good I can say about my mother, she always tried her hardest to instill in us the whole "it's about giving and love, not getting and greed" thing. We usually try to do something charitable around this season, whether it be something as simple as donating loose change to the salvation army or something bigger. This year, my dad got a very nice Christmas bonus and we were able to choose one family in need of some help to give $100 to.
