what do you do when the power goes out?
we have to hook up our big clunky generator and put gas in it so my reptiles dont freeze.
im just asking becasue our power went out the other day becasue of a bad storm. we didnt have enough gas to leave the generator on all night so i didnt feed any of my lizards, luckily it wasnt feeding day for the snakes yet so they were fine, but i got some dirty looks from the rest of my guys. i only feed them when they have access to heat because i dont want food just sitting in their gut rotting.
but what does everyone else do when their power goes off? anyone else ever have issues with cold blooded animals because of power outages?

My house is heated by a wood stove, mostly. We just break out the candles and flashlights, but there isn't too much difference. I cook on the wood stove, too, but I do that a fair amount anyways.

We use a wood stove to heat the house as well. But I mainly use my cell for games/internet(my nin ds for travelling and hanging out w/friends) so it's not all that different than normal. I just have to be stingy and watch my battary levels(i use my cell as a flash light too blaugh )

wait till it comes back on in a few minutes. if not, kick back and party. can't get anything else done. we usually have things available, 'just in case'. not much, but just what we need for the area. keep the fridge shut, and make sure we're not losing heat or cold if that's an issue. more than a day or so, and i'll be buying ice (or getting snow). and then eating whatever's in the fridge (camp stove works well). in the islands we just went sown to the beach, unless it was trying to storm. then we just sat inside and played board games until we couldn't see anymore. we had a hibachi grill, so dinner was no problem. in tornado alley, i read to the kids by candle light until they settled down, and let them sleep with the dogs. we had a gas stove, so the neighbors came over for dinner. now that i've moved back to the mountains, and the kids are older, we light candles and tell stories and play rp games.

well i dont worry that much, we use flashflights and wait about an hour or two before the power comes back, besides i remember when it happened was during the day. I worry more about earthquakes and having our cable knocked out more than power outages.
