He again looked to the broken mess and sighed
"Why couldnt she have been wooden?"
He was the only wood doll he'd ever seen and the thought of other dolls... potentialy accidently falling and ending up like Angie concured his resolve and he dropped down on his bum and rubbed the back of his head
"Bad thoughts, very bad thoughts" his face Cringed.

Rytogu

He looked over to Cybele "I wish you could have come along on better terms. It's kindly hard to properly welcome someone when we are all down"

»»» "How about we...uh... No. Nevermind." Bartleby thought that maybe he should try to do something fun with everyone, but maybe now wasn't the time. He wanted to get his mind off this, and he wanted to just make everybody happy again.

"Uhm." He walked around the room a bit, looking at each doll as he walked past. He didn't really know why he was doing this, he just wanted to keep moving.

He nodded to BartleBy and whispered back "That sounds like a nice idea, maybe we should start by having everyone just welcome her verbally, maybe drawl thier minds from what just happened"

»»» "Yeah!" Bartleby said loud and excitedly. "Whoa... Ahem. Yeah, lets do that." He said going back to a whisper. "Okay, how about you and I go and tell the others... and then things will get going from there." Stepping back a bit with a huge grin on his face, he looked at Cybele and then back at Rytogu. "Think it'll work out nicely..?"

Rytogu

He couldn't help but smile at BartleBy's enthusaism
Nudging him a little and laughing "Lets!"
He turned to everyone "Guys, in all this commotion, you may not have noticed that we have a new member in the house" He pointed to Cybele "I think it'd be appropaite to try to make her feel welcome here"
He hoped for a good reaction

Olivia reached out to shake Cybele's hand warmly and said, "Welcome, Cybele," smiling at her.

The recent tragedy had shaken Olivia up, and whereas she would normally have held back until everyone else had spoken in a situation like this, something about seeing Angie like that and knowing that Angie had been someone who had held herself back, shy and reserved, made Olivia want to be different. "I don't want to regret not reaching out more to the people around me," she thought, as she took this step boldly to be a new person, and to appreciate and even love the people around her more.

She smiled at the lovely, delicate looking doll before her - like a Swedish ice-maiden, made of snow and starlight ... Cybele certainly was gorgeous ... Olivia chastised herself for this knee-jerk reaction in her thoughts by thinking to herself, "No, Olivia ... You will not compare yourself to anyone tonight! You are beautiful too, and if comparing yourself and feeling inferior is what has kept you locked up in your room so many nights, you will not let that stop you anymore. You really don't want to be alone anymore, do you?"

No, she didn't want to be alone anymore ... If she herself could end up in fragments someday, she wanted to at least live and love other people while she still had a chance. Their lives were so full of danger. Any of them could end up like Angie at any moment in time ...

»»» Hoping up excitedly, Bartleby called out in an almost booming voice, "Welcome Cybele!" He chuckled and smiled in Cybele's and Olivia's direction. 'Such pretty women everywhere. Wait, wh-hat?' Shaking his head and laughing to himself, he walked over to them. "Again, welcome. Sorry for getting so loud back there, I got excited..." He nodded and had a huge grin on his face.

Olivia smiled at Bartleby's enthusiasm. His voice filled the room with warmth and life. The feeling of death in the room was dispelled by the sound of his words. Suddenly, the lamps seemed brighter again and the room was warmer. Olivia knew she'd probably cry again when she was up in her room awaiting the sunrise, but for now, she could forget what she had seen on the floor beside the dollhouse. And oh how she wanted to forget ... She didn't want to think of Moshi's pain when he woke up and saw what was left of Angie lying on the floor, she didn't want to think of the scratchy sound of porcelain pieces being swept up off the floor with a broom, or hitting the inside of a vacuum cleaner with scattered thuds ... she shook her head.

She would be in the here and now - alive with the other people in the room. Alive ... yes alive and well, and listening to very, very alive Bartleby bringing joy and life back into the room. Olivia smiled back at him and focused her thoughts on that warmth, and on the comforting and pleasant presence of the other dolls in the room. What was left of this night could surely be almost normal, right? She had heard someone speak of a "wake" before - instead of a funeral for the departed, a party celebrating their life and their passage into a better place. That is what this evening would be to her. She knew that Angie would never again have to be afraid of having to be tortured, broken, humiliated - and she believed that whatever it was that animated their bodies, some sort of a soul - that it had a good place to go to when the bodies were broken.

Warmth, light, happiness, focusing, enjoying. This is what she would think about tonight.

Rytogu

He patted Cybele's shoulder and smiled at her
"It's wonderful to have a new face."

"I-I... um, thank you all for the kind welcome." she stammered. seeming a bit overwelmed by all the attention. she ran a hand over her dress nerviously, smoothing a wrinkle that didn't exist. "it's been up in that box so long, its been some time since i've seen anyone else. i'm afraid i'm not sure what to do. so please excuse me if i do something improper, my manners are a bit rusty." she then smiled at the group of dolls around her.

Olivia smiled and Cybele, and thought about maybe suggesting a game - something fun, maybe croquet? Or dancing while Bartleby played the piano? Or maybe just sitting around and talking. The night would draw to an end before they knew it, and Olivia wanted to enjoy it while she could. Night would not last forever, even if they wanted it to. Freedom could not last forever, and daybreak was only a couple hours away.
