Any elf that wants to enter buys a ticket by sending 100 gold to Elf on a Bookshelf. At the end of the month, a random drawing is done to determine which of the elves that entered win ALL of the participating elves’ money and the 300 gold that Elf on a Bookshelf always contributes to the pot. For example, if 5 elves send 100g to enter the lottery, then one of them wins 800g by the end of the month (500g from the elves that entered and 300g from Elf on a Bookshelf.) All elves that participate in the lottery earn points.

Aries Mar 21 - Apr 19

It's fall and suddenly you're printing recipes off the Internet and stocking your kitchen cupboards with gourmet treats. With Mars, your ruler, revving up your home sector, you will be in the mood to entertain. While you're at it, you may want to give your digs a facelift, and your timing to do so could not be better.

Taurus Apr 20 - May 20

This will be one of those months where surprises come out of the blue and miscommunications will abound. You will need to take a watch and wait approach to September, which may be a bit disappointing because September is, to most of us, a time of fresh starts and the opening of new paths. That will all happen in October, so hang on, confident that the world will right itself as you get beyond September. One thing September WILL be good for is getting back on track and for seeing situations in a more realistic, practical manner.

Gemini May 21 - June 20

There will be a great deal going on in your life at home and in your career in September, but with Mercury retrograde until the last day of the month, you won't be able to fix things until October. In that respect, this could be a nerve-jangling month, but fortunately you are a sign known to stay cool under pressure. Also, if anyone has the ability to turn on a dime and move from plan A to B quickly, it's you. You are a master of resourcefulness, so the smart money is saying you will beat the odds and make any reversals that you experience work in your favor.

Cancer June 21 - July 22

This is one of those wild ride months where you may wish you had stayed in bed. If you should ever feel this way, know that you have plenty of company from the rest of the signs. Everyone will be feeling stress as planets kick up cosmic storms at mid-month, but actually, the mutable signs will be wrestling the most with what is going on. (Those are Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius.) As a result, because you are not a mutable sign, you may find you are a bystander to what goes on and may be asked to help those who are facing tougher challenges than you.

Leo July 23 - Aug 22

Mars is now in your twelfth house, indicating you are dealing with at least one situation from your past that will need to be addressed and finalized soon if you are ever to feel free and unfettered. The problem appears to be financial, and by the upcoming clashing of planets in September, it appears you will no longer be able to put things off. Good. The sooner you take this situation seriously and work toward finding a resourceful solution, the better.

Virgo Aug 23 - Sept 22

This won't be the easiest month, so you will have to find ways to give yourself regular time for rest and relaxation. A number of dramatic planetary aspects will come up in a very small period at mid-month, so you would be wise to have absolutely nothing of importance on your calendar - that way you will be free to attend to anything, should something come up.

Libra Sept 23 - Oct 22

This will be a tough month, but mainly for the mutable signs of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius. You may find yourself on the sidelines helping others if you don't have any of these signs prominent in your chart, and if you do, you'll need to respond and get things fixed. Either way, you will come through this month fine, but I do admit that there will be a few trying moments.

Scorpio Oct 23 - Nov 21

This will be one of those crazy months, when Murphy's Law will prevail: "If it can happen, it will happen." You will need to check all your assumptions to be sure you are being realistic. Sometime during the month, you will be given information you did not have before, and when it comes it may shock or surprise you, but even so, it is the way the universe will work to protect you. You will also have an opportunity to help others, and it appears you will be more than ready to do so.

Sagittarius Nov 22 - Dec 21

Professional interests, finances, and a major real estate or housing situation will take top billing in September. Although you will be intent on moving to make decisions and get plans set, with Mercury retrograde all month in your career sector and a rather intense series of planetary storms due to thunder through our lives from September 15 to 23, you will do best to be patient and wait until October to make your key decisions. For now, be patient and wait until the clouds part and the Sun comes out again.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 19

You are known to be the staunch realist of the zodiac, so you'll likely come through September in far better shape than the other signs. With planets squaring off into difficult patterns, you will have to cut through the clutter and deal with what "is" rather than what you had hoped would "be" someday. If this month had a message, it would be to deal with reality and to banish fantasy. Any situation that has a weak link will reveal itself now and require a disciplined, pragmatic approach, and this will be especially apparent after the new moon, September 18.

Aquarius Jan 20 - Feb 18

As an Aquarius, financial negotiations don't generally fascinate you and money tends not to motivate you. Instead, you would rather direct your attention to the world of ideas and concepts, which surely does "flick the switch" of your energy and attention. Even so, money will consume a great deal of your focus in September, and financial management will take careful handling and a large measure of resourcefulness.

Pisces Feb 19 - March 20

Your life will soon be a study in contrasts. These days you have been facing your dragons and ruthlessly rooting out the parts of your life that are no longer working for you. This may not be the most convenient time to go through this sorting out process, but the universe is asking you to do so now, so you might as well go with the flow.
