As a Muslim, are you supposed do that to a baby?
Is it ok if you don't?? I heard it was sunnah, but I don't know? What's the benefit of this?

Muslims are for male circumcision. 3nodding It is a tradition that was started with Abraham (pbuh). I believe it has something to do with cleanliness.
I understand that some counrties encourage female circumsision, which is actually a form of mutilation. *shivers* However, there is nothing supporting that in the Qur'an or hadith.

I know Islam is FOR circumcision, but as a person, i am not for it.
My husband is British and they rarely circumcise (where as here in America they do most of the time) He has never had a problem and is happy being uncircumcised.
If we have boys, he will not be circumcised. Things CAN go wrong ><

So...why are they still doing it, or how did they come up with the idea if it's not mentioned in the qur'an?
And what's good about circumcising? Is it healthy? I don't understaand aah crying

Male circumcision is the sunnah b/c Abraham pbuh circumcisied himself and he was an old man when he did it. In these days, we can handle it as soon as the baby boy is born.
Now female circumcision is, by my standards, mutilation and if Muslims are following this action, they should stop it.
It's a Bid'ah (innovation), meaning it was not part of Islam and they added it. Plus they are harming another Muslim.
Something like this could land them in the Hellfire.
They believe female circumcision keeps the woman from having sexual urges so if they circumcise her, she will remain "intact" for her marriage. If these Muslims were correctly following their deen, they would know that the only way to deal with overly sexual desires is to fast or to marry (when the person is ready).
