almisami
This is one of the reasons why I frown a lot upon abrahamic religions.
One's sexual attraction shouldn't be opposed by religion. I don't mind if you say that they can't be married in front of god, because your definition of marriage is yours to make.
However, one's feelings and emotions should never be a reason to shun them. Ever.
The practices on sexual intercourse are also very fuzzy in my worldview, since in many religions intercourse is defined as vaginal penetration with the intent to procreate.

The bans on sodomy are what I'd qualify as a archaic relic of a time where hygiene and protection weren't what they are today and I understand why the prophets would advise their followers to abstain from it.

A really tricky thread, but I figure I'll respond anyway. As a Roman Catholic, I will say I am against the idea of gay/bi not just from a religious view, but because personally I just see it as wrong and not "fitting right" ..as we aren't usually made with male and female body parts. I am an open minded person in acceptance and do not judge people on their choices. I have to say that all the sexual diseases say otherwise on us being "protected and hygenic" in todays world...in fact, I think from the "seeming gay fad or out of the closet explosion" we have more diseases and such to deal with.

The only thing that annoys me is when people constantly go on and on about how they are gay/bi etc...really, I'd rather just know if you are a person intent on bettering yourself, learning and improving your life, that sort of thing...the more I see stuff like that..say in the aquarium bottles, the more I want to ask about stuff like this.

There are so many here that aren't against it, it's so great ^^

Well...what can I say.....well sex, religion, skincolor, origin, and things like that shouldn't matter....cause love is love u know..

Edit: Sorry for my lateness in reply, I fell ill.
@Chieftain Twilight:
Islam does not have any sects and nor do I belong to any so-called "sect" that people might have created. I just try to follow what's right as much as possible. As for your question, what do you think are the actions/temptations that lead to a**l sex? Of course, you might think it might not be the same for all, but it's better to prevent something than curing it and (sometimes) it might not even be curable.
To me:
1.) I'm trying trying to be arrogant or proud in any way. Humans not higher in intelligence or creativity compared to others, you say? Tell me, would you compare your intelligence with at least a chimpanzee's, if you believe in the Darwinian evolution theory? Name some other animal if not. I'm not saying they're unintelligent, but are less in comparison to ours.
2.) OK, I am not a biology student and haven't touched it for 2 years by now, so basically, I may not have much knowledge on this area of contemporary research however, as far my knowledge goes, these happen to be exceptionally rare cases. As for those who are imprisoned, I believe that they lack the sense morality in the first place, otherwise they wouldn't've ended up in jail. Secondly, they can't control their temptations when they do come.
It is sad to hear that you've been raped, well, twice, and it should be punished worse than the normal one. I don't live in the US, so I don't know much about its laws and policies, but this a a very weird thing not having this counted as a rape and letting such a thing go unpunished.
======

Islam was preached by the last and final messenger of Allah, Muhammad (PBUH) and we are obliged to follow his teachings in the Hadith along with the Holy Qur'an. As far as I know of (and can't doubt, either), none of his teachings were out of what Allah wanted him or asked him to say. So, I'll quote a few Hadith I found on this matter.
Quote:
1. It was narrated by Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him): "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'There is nothing I fear for my Ummah more than the deed of the people of Lut.' al-Tirmidhi
2. It was narrated that Ibn Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said: '... cursed is the one who has intercourse with an animal, cursed is the one who does the action of the people of Lut.'" Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami
3. *It was narrated that Ibn Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him)said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Whoever you find doing the deed of the people of Lut, kill the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.'" al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah, Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami
4. "Whoever has intercourse with a woman and penetrates her rectum, or with a man, or with a boy, will appear on the Last Day stinking worse than a corpse; people will find him unbearable until he enters hell fire, and God will cancel all his good deeds." Farewell speech

*Ibn al-Qayyim, an Islamic scholar explains:
"Both of them – fornication and homosexuality – involve immorality that goes against the wisdom of Allah’s creation and commandment. For homosexuality involves innumerable evil and harms, and the one to whom it is done would be better off being killed than having this done to him, because after that he will become so evil and so corrupt that there can be no hope of his being reformed, and all good is lost for him, and he will no longer feel any shame before Allah or before His creation. The semen of the one who did that to him will act as a poison on his body and soul. The scholars differed as to whether the one to whom it is done will ever enter Paradise."
One more Hadith which I can't find which collection it goes to is:
"No man should look at the private parts of another man, and no woman should look at the private parts of another woman, and no two men sleep (in bed) under one cover."

Finally, I'd like to ask if this is a good link or not. Just found it now.

I do not intend to hurt anyone's feelings in anyway, so I apologise if I have. smile

So many of you gave alot of detailed answers so I am not going into the same details and facts.

however, I will give my own personal view on this. I honestly think it is wrong both in a religious and personal manner.

But I would not hate a person just for being gay/bi/whatever it is the "act" and not the person himself bother me.

One of my long time close friends is American and she is a bisexual wiccan (she used to be christian thought xd )
And she knows exactly where I stand on this topic and she understands my views and beliefs and I have never hated her because of that but she knows I don't stand with the act either.

But I have been there for her when she was heartbroken a few times (by both girls and guys, that girl never learns! blaugh )

apart from that this reminds me of a very lengthy discussion I had with another long time friend (who is Australian) her views on life are uhm you can say different she looks at it from a different point of view neither religion neither society or feelings it is hard to explain her theories it is more like biological mixed with Anime sci-fi sort of thing sweatdrop

Back to what I was saying, there was a discussion about Incest at that time and she was not against it but she would not do it personally but there were people demanding their rights of love etc.

God did not forbid anything without a reason and we may not know the reasons or they are not yet clear to us but apart from physically health ex. Islam forbids adultery and sex outside of a marriage, and on the other side where it is acceptable in other societies it lead to major things like teen-pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS.

In my view there has to be some kind of restrictions and order otherwise we will all drift into chaos (which is starting to happen anyways!)

People always demand for more, Incest, Bestiality etc. (I am not saying they are they same with being homosexual thought!)

Every action has another reaction, exp. high homosexuality rate would mean less marriages between different gender partners which would lead to a decline in birth rate, just like the environment we over-produced and over-used and now we have to do crisis control before we start swimming in our own rooms from global warming

(I hope I am clear so far or atleast making sense) ><
Again I say that, God did not forbid anything without a reason, even if it may not be clear to us or yet undiscovered.

PS: Sorry if I am being hazy I just woke up and I barely slept so my dialog skills are not fully functional right now -_-;

some of my friends are lesbo or gay...
It doesn't bother anyone, the rest of us are straight, but we really don't care about which sexuality one of us prefers...

They are good loyal friends that we all care about...
