Shop at second hand stores, use a solar car or hydrogen powered car, or a hybrid, take less time in hot showers, make sure your refrigerator is closed tightly, close the curtains to retain heat for winter, plant deciduous trees around your house to keep cool in the summer and hot in the winter, don't blast air conditioners or heaters, add more clothes on during winter, use compact fluorescent light bulbs, unplug everything after using them, have candlelit suppers, the list goes on.....

Eat local wherever possible, get a(preferably used) device that serves multiple purposes to save power and give away/recycle your old ones. Buy online instead of going out to shop. Buy ebooks instead of paper books or go out to the library.
Don't take extra trips into town if you live to far away to walk everywhere. Do your grocery shopping(and library visits) before/after work when the car is already out and about to avoid making extra trips.
Carpool where possible. If your car has an old cassette player, don't upgrade to a CD player or try finding cassettes. There's these awesome devices that look a lot like a cassette tape but have a cord coming out of one that you plug into a CD or MP3player. If you have an MP3 player, download, avoid buying new disks. This will cut out waste and you can plug your ipod into your car, hit shuffle and you don't have to fuss with the radio(except for adjusting volume).
Avoid driving on roads that make your car get poor mileage(for example, a lot of stopping reduces mileage, and high speeds and too low of speeds do the same(aerodynamics)Plan your route in a fashion of which would save the most fuel overall, if possible.

Sugared Piff Buy more things that are made of bamboo and hemp. YEAH. biggrin And totally buy from locally owned craft/fabric stores! biggrin (that one's good for the economy!) Use electronics till they wear out/break, buy used gadgets, and give away your old electronics when you HAVE to upgrade because of shininess. xD

Another good idea would be see which of your properties are public space. If a corporation has advertisements all over it, you are allowed to take it down.
You could paint a mural or something on it. It helps get the message that consumerism sucks, puts more people at peace of mind, and the corporation's message isn't always in your face, making it a little bit easier to say no to buying more stuff. (ooooh you could invite a bunch of people from the community to help you remove the advertisements and redo it, then it would have a more powerful message! biggrin )
EDIT: I noted this because if you buy new stuff, one helps contribute to the problem. By taking down ads, that company's message is less widespread and therefore help stop the problem
